Well I'm heading off to university, come this September, and I need to buy a laptop. I just need a laptop for browsing, homework, movies & music, little bit of gaming, just your average laptop with the usual needs. Your average size laptop, and not too heavy. I have a budget of $500-800. I usually buy electronics off Future Shop or Best Buy, but I'm pretty sure I can find better deals and laptops online or in other stores. So anybody have any recommendations?

I will wait... It's back to school month... Many retailers are preparing for this month to blow out their stock.
U can easily find an i7 within ur budget.

Asus N53TK (http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=71472&vpn=N53TK-RS81-CA&manufacture=ASUS&promoid=1254) or Asus U31SD (http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=65173&vpn=U31SD-DH31&manufacture=ASUS&promoid=1254) would work. I'd suggest the N53.

Either the first Asus Allan suggested or a Lenovo T530 which can be had for 750-800 via their EPP.

I disagree!
HP Elitebooks = GO
Thinkpad T-series = GO
Acer = NO
HP consumer grade = NO
Asus = Maybe
HP Elite Books and Thinkpad T-series aren't going to be very game happy (not meant for gaming, BUSINESS USE). Asus more likely have gaming configured laptops!

The sale ends on August 1 which is a bummer, still need some time to think about it, and talk to parents. Plus it says the N53 is out of stock :(. Would you recommend getting the Kensington essentials kit with notebook and mouse lock for $14.99 alongside it? Cause I'm looking into buying a laptop bag for protection for my laptop, as well as laptop back pack. Is there any other stores/sites that sell this model or any other Asus laptops that you would recommend?

Don't waste the money on those cheap locks... If someone wants your laptop they can probably steal it cutting the lock or something.
Also because you are going to school with it, it might be wise to get a laptop bag so you aren't carrying a laptop bag + school bag.

As above, don't buy the cheap stuff ... Get a decent mouse, and don't leave your laptop unattended. Also, check NCIX, Amazon, etc later in August, when BTS sales are on. Also, check that the machine you get has a 2yr global parts warranty, and 1yr accidental damage warranty. If it doesn't, don't buy it.

You can choose the HP Pavilion dv6 which is under $800 with an Intel Core i5-2410M Sandy Bridge dual-core CPU, 6GB of DDR3 memory, and a discrete Radeon HD 6490M graphics chip.
