Looking for a new pair
I've only ever driven with either Serengeti or Ray Ban sunglasses ( usually aviator style ) in the past.
Any other brands / styles folks would recommend - i.e Bolle, Oakley, Randolph, etc. ?

I'm a big fan of Oakleys sunglasses. I have 2 pairs in my car, Half Jacket and HOLBROOK. I usually wear the half jacket but when I step out i switch to holbrook

I know, just teasing :cheesygri
I suppose you don't have prescription eye glasses? I got a pair of custom Transitions eye glasses that I used to use, but during the morning, the sun would reflect all the damn chrome in the cars interior, so as of right now, I use custom prescribed Ray-Bans which have slightly oversized lens. Helps a bit more, but I wish there would be less chrome on the inside of cars. Best probably is subjective, whatever you wear that is comfortable and stylish.

Just picked these up a few days ago. Maui Jim Kanaha 409-02. They have polarized, polycarbonate lenses with an anti reflective coating on the inside of the glasses.

For the first time in my life, as soon as I put on the glasses, I knew it was perfect. It's great for active people and for the casual user as well. It comes in grey and brown. I tried on some ray bans serengeti and they were just meh.

+1 Maui Jim is good.
Currently, I have Drivewear. Similar to Serengeti's optic technology. I like them as they good even in the early evening driving.

I stupidly left my Ray Ban on my driver seat, and ended up sitting on them the next day.
Replaced them with a pair of Maui Jim, and I really enjoy driving with them on. They are more comfy and I feel like the Maui Jim's are easier on my eyes.

I am another Maui Jim fan. I currently have a pair of Mahina and an older pair of Kahuna (I think that's what they were). As a backup, I have a pair of polarized Ray-Bans that I keep in glovebox. I prefer to have polarized lenses while driving to combat the glare. My first pair of driving sunglasses were a pair of Serengetis, I forget the model, but I loved how bright they made every appear, probably because the lenses were less opaque (brown versus grey) than my Maui Jims. I have a pair of polarized Oakley Juliet X-Metals but I only use those for golf.

Anything with polarization, as long as they are comfortable and you like them.

Serengeti or Maui Jim
Polarized with an Anti - reflective coating on the back side.
Preferebly in brown for a good colour contrast unless you're very light sensitive.
If you find that their models are too heavy b/c they are using glass lenses then look at their polycarbonate models for a lighter weight; they should have some albeit a smaller selection.

Must say, never even had Maui Jims on my radar - yet - judging by the number of times it's been mentioned on the thread, it seems to be pretty damn popular.
I'll definitely have to check those out.:)

OP, in all honesty, the question is pointless without context. For instance, I would never rock my Aviators (or other stylish glasses) while driving my inlaws Hyundai Accent. Just looks stupid. I'll just rock my cheap sunglasses from Joe Fresh.
When I'm driving my VW, I've got to do my hipster part, so I'll put on my Aviators.
You need to accessorize yourself properly to match the car you drive. Same goes with clothes.

Polarizing sunglasses may be an issue if you have any LCD screens in your car. Even the ones that just report odometer.

That is true - depending on the screen.
If I have my sunglasses on at the office (walking in) and look at my monitor in portrait mode, the coating/whatever on the monitor ends up aligning with the polarization of the glasses and the screen looks blank.

Good point.
I may just pick up a pair of ' dirt cheap ' polarized glasses and see how the LCD screens look just to make sure this isn't much of an issue before dropping some $ on a much better / more expensive pair of polarized glasses.

I thought transition lenses don't work in cars because the UV needed to transition is blocked by the windshield?

+1. That's true. I also have transistion lenses and they don't work inside the car.
But if you got some crappy Chinese Made windshield, then your transition lenses will work.

I'm probably leaning more towards something with a bit more ' traditional ' styling ...something like these Randolphs' for example.....

At this point this is more of a fashion question than anything automotive related. Just get a decent quality lens from a company that specializes in them (fashion brands are just under contract from a company like Luxxottica). I find polarization to be a huge benefit, but may be issues in your Edge with its heavy use of LCDs. A neutral grey tint is my preference, but you may prefer a gradient or other specificity tint. Beyond this your just over thinking. Grab a pair from an optical shop and move on.

I suspect the same....as I said earlier....I'll probably just try out some really cheap polarized glasses first and see how the LCD screens look.

Probably between gray or green tint..

I don't think there's a best brand although some do stand out more than others. It's all about your style. I wear prescription sunglasses but before that I had a pair of Ray Ban that I bought in the late 90s while in Europe. I loved the pair but then my eyes became *****ed up and I had to upgrade.
