I remember when they didn't even have IMAP, switched to gmail and never looked back.

Yeah IMAPis better than POP3. Hotmail looks better but its stupid when I read/delete an email elsewhere it doesn't get marked as read on the server.

So it says you can now get a outlook.com address. What happens to the old hotmail address? Can you keep using it or eventually they want everyone to switch over to outlook?

Your hotmail account gets forwarded to your Outlook account but you would not be able to log in using your Hotmail credentials only your outlook account. So you keep both e-mails but only one is the primary.

Unless you create an outlook account separately (not porting over) ... that way you keep both functional.

Its really cool I have tried it already but it has a few more flaws. Their server always experienced some kind of connection problems.

There's an option that lets you switch back to Hotmail but It doesn't work when I click on It!

Live Messenger doesn't work within the new Outlook mail either (can't see any contacts under 'messaging').

wtf is up with the password requirements?

Passwords must have at least 8 characters and contain at least two of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Really? Do people really want to remember a password with 2 or more uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols?

no problem here.... my password meets those requirements easily...

What they mean is that the password must contain at least two of types.

So it can contain both upper and lower case letters and be valid.
Or can contain upper case and numbers.
Or lower case and symbols.
Etc....

Means you need 2 of each category, here is an example : &*ABcd12

That would have 2 symbol, 2 uppercase, 2 lowercase, 2 numbers.

No it doesn't.

Try creating a few new outlook.com accounts. You'll see I'm correct.

I did, it didn't work without having 2 of each category. Give me an example of what works.

O wait.... LOL.... the one I was trying to use wasn't 8 characters long. You're right. My mistake.

Anyone know how to disable the messenger? In hotmail you can disable auto-sign into MSN, but I can't find the option for outlook.

This is really going to confuse people who don't know the difference between outlook and outlook...

Reserved a few addresses for myself but I'm still going to be using it for junk mail. It's nice to have a good email if you are big on MS services though, but I'm pretty Googlfied.
