Some people say yes. Some people say no. Some stores told me they will match any competitor's price. Some stores told me they will only match another price if I bring in the flyer.
The other day, I went in and forgot my flyer in the car. I asked the rep to go to the other store's website to open their HTML or Flash flyer. Guess what? The rep refused.
How long will The Source last? It has already gone from Radio Shack to Circuit City: The Source and now just The Source. What's next? The days of going to Radio Shack for new alkaline batteries are nearly over what with those Duracell rechargeables that you can get at SDM each time P&G has the $5 coupon...

I'm not sure if its still this way, it might be YMMV but I tried price matching at The Source with Walmart and they told me they only price match other The Sources... which isn't really useful. And they only match it, no further discounts. This was a few months ago... things may have changed since, but I never tried again.

Thanks, but the other day I went in and asked them to visit www.futureshop.ca to download the FS flyer and PM something and they refused because they can only match in-store pricing. I explained that I wanted to PM the store flyer but they refused. Anyone ever try and succeed with The Source?

Maybe try to call their head office to check before wasting your time visiting each stores.

While I disagree with the "in-store pricing" thing, I think you were unrealistic to expect them to download the flyers. You should have gone prepared with the stuff you needed to support your claim.

They still would have verified the claim if he had a flyer by calling the store to confirm stock - which they could hve doe without the flyer.
But even then they would have found a reason to deny it - just look at all the excuses in this thread.
The commissioned staff at TS et al are just sleezy no matter what. You're better off buying it at Costco, WalMart etc

Not always easy to do, especially if you live in a smaller community. The Source has about 750 stores across the country while FS has only about 150.
To the OP: As for in-store price matching, it's always easier if you come prepared, e.g. with a copy of the competitor's flyer, a copy of the store's PM policies, etc. I agree that you shouldn't have to do this but the fact is, whether at The Source or FS/BB or whatever, their own people often don't know the rules or intentionally try to ignore them. It's a lot harder for them to deny you if you're prepared. And even if they do deny you, you have a much better case against them when you escalate to HQ.
