"Need help with finding the name of a donut shop in the late 1980's early 1990's on Silver Springs and Birchmount. There was this little shop there I used to go to when I was a kid and play the arcade cabinets there. Trying for the life of me to remember it. If anybody knows what it was called please let me know, trying to find some pics of it to add to my facebook for a buddy.
Thanks in advance"

I know it, grew up around there.
From what I remember, it was just called Donut.
My friends and I simply called it the "Donut Shop."
It was run my an Asian Couple.
They had 2 cabinets in the back, first time I ever saw SF2 and NBA Jam was right there.
Funny thing is I've never ordered donuts there. I was only there to donate my quarters.

These donut shops were everywhere! And had all the video games. I always got the beef patties and peach fountain drink. I had my favorite right downstairs from my apartment. Great times.
They had similar names. The Donut Shoppe. Donut Time, Coffee and Donuts, Mr. Donut, Mr. Coffee, etc. so likely very hard to remember. Very few remaining today.

I miss these places. They actually had a kind of community feel to them. The kids would gather to play the video games...
The grand pops would come in to buy their coffee and play cards.. And there was always the same regular who came in to order a double double and read the entire newspaper.
And who could forgot megatouch... Including porno photohunt... Which wasn't played for the porn, but rather because it was easier then the regular photohunt thus easier to get a high score lolll.
Some even had an 'for entertainment purposes only' slot machine.... But the shop owner would always secretly give money to people behind the scenes for winning.
I also remember people playing 3 cards, big2, dice, and blackjack for money.

Great observation. It did have a community feel... like the Choclit Shoppe in the Archie Comics. Overall blue collar feel. Even though I would never talk to the older people, I would always recognize and see them. Coffee, Sun newspaper and often cigarettes. In my donut shoppe, they had some other game (poker or some real gambling game.. and I do remember the payouts lol).
Many casual friendships (including nemesis types) were born there. Kids would drop in by biking there. When a new awesome game came, I always remember my reaction being 'What is that?!!'
And who could forget the $0.50 day old donuts!

The gathering now takes place at McDonald's ... and it costs you more than 50 cents.
