I've been debating which one to get, as both of these units are top notch from what I've read.
Obviously they have major differences, but I want to see if anyone has used both of them.
I just want to use a fast tablet for browsing, watching movies, and a personal notepad for side things to keep me on track.
Price point is $499 vs $259 respectively. I could pretty much buy 2 Google Nexus 7s, for the price of the TF700T.
Is having a bigger screen that much of a bonus, or having a smaller screen is good for mobility?
Thoughts?

A 10 incher is great if you're going to use it propped up on a stand or case most of the time or hook it up to a dock/keyboard. Otherwise it gets cumbersome really quickly. I personally love the smaller size of the N7.

browsing: both r fast
watching movies: TF700T can play 1080p without downscale so that's a + (assume you do have 1080p files)
personal notepad: If you r not buying a keyboard, both r the same. If you r buying a keyboard for TF700T, then TF700T wins (Although netbook for sure will win because of MS office, but I'm guessing you r just taking simple notes so doesn't matter)

I have Nexus7 and original Asus Transformer. Love them both!
There are pros and cons to both sizes (7" and 10"):
Unlike Transformer, I can use N7 to read books lying on a couch. With 10" it is too big and too heavy.
But Transformer is much more useful while reading some magazines and other stuff when screen real estate is important.
Basically, 7" and 10" tablets do NOT replace each other. Ideally, to have them both. That's what I plan on keep doing :-) I'll just upgrade my old Transformer with 10" Nexus tablet whenever Google make it :)

And remember that Asus is the manufacturer of the Google Nexus7.

Of course! But the presence of Google is important to make sure, that the device will have a timely updates, and will NOT have any locking crap, when you are fighting to gt control over YOUR device (hint: look at Sony android phones. Even Asus is like this - original Transformer is pretty much locked after latest update).

nexus 7 lack of built-in expandable storage and no hdmi. No microd SD held me back from buying a nexus 7. I'm debating a t700, but its so expensive ($649 with kboard). For older people/computer noobs in my family touch screen is a must. I'll look further into Slate and u21/31 but the u31s are over $1200. I am not sure how well win8 is going to work out. Rather have win 7 or ICS/JB.

I could never understand, why people want so much space on a tablet?! For things on-a-go 16GB is a plenty! For more - I am using remote storage locations. For example - why would I bother putting movies on a tablet, if instead I can play/stream movies directly from the remote machine at home?!
HDMI - again, why? I have enough devices, connected to TV's - htpc, media players, even one android-on-a-stick. Why would I even bother connecting tablet there? It's purpose to be a light and mobile device, not an attachment to tv. Connecting tablet to tv fills like a waste of perfectly good mobile device :-)

For me I use the tablet a lot for web browsing and I find 7" too small for that as one needs constantly zooming in and out or scrolling up and down.

Probably because people don't use thier mobile device at home 24/7. HDMI is great for when you are away from home, want to play something on your hotel's tv or a friend's house that don't have a media player.
I don't need more than my 32GB but again, people travel with these things and are not connected to the internet all the time and might want space for tv shows, music, games, etc.

the main prob with streaming is the MEASLY data caps we have. you can barely steam anything before you start having to pay a fortune!
If your streaming over your home network its another story, but its still easier to store files on a SD card.

I can definitely use a microSD slot.
HDMI...meh...won't likely use it even if my receiver had 8 HDMI inputs;)

Just purchased A t700 and a few $8 16 gig Kingston micro sd for my music and pdfs. Not sure if class 4 will be fast enough for 1080p movies, so I may have to buy higher class later. Microsoft is being a bit too elusive with Slate info, and it is too long for me to wait late oct. The ux31/ux32 are too much $$$ for me. nexus 7 screen size too small for me.
