Hi,
I need my heat pump units (2) replaced. I've been having a hard time finding companies that actually deal with apartments. Does anyone have suggestions?
Thanks

Maybe ask the property manager? I'm sure there are companies who have dealt with your building before.

Yes they recommended a company. That company installed the previous heat pump units. They lasted about 3.5 years. On top of that, my hydro costs were huge. I'm pretty sure I don't want to deal with people who would inflict that on their customers

So why not investigate the various makes suitable then ask the installer for a price using the model of choice? He may not have been aware of the problems with the model you have at the time of installation. We bought a home and within 6 years most homes in the subdivison had to replace the useless furnace.

So talk to that company, tell them that the original heat pump was a piece of junk that was inefficient and unreliable, and see what options they give you. You don't have to pay them to do the work, just use them as an "in" so you have some idea of what's available, what the major challenges will be, etc. It may be that the builder was only willing to pay for the cheapest of the cheap pumps and that the installer has better options available.

OP: I live in a condo as well and have been considering a heat pump. Do you have any photos of how yours is installed?
Thanks.
