So I drove to work, and when I came back to my car at the end of my shift, I saw that my window had been smashed and they took my cell phone/dash camera. Had money and other things in the car, but the cell phone/dash camera is all they took. How are you guys keeping your blackview in parking mode and hidden from thieves? Thats the number one reason why I dont want to spend a few hundred on a blackvue. I did spend only 20 dollar on the andriod, but still replacing the window and camera and memory card sucks. Doesnt make sence to go via insurance as the deductable is $500

Another thing which sucks is the thief probably knows where I live from the videos.

Also, anyone know how much to cost to replace a driver side window on a CSX? Dealer gave me a quote of 580 + tax

Thanks a bunch. Looks like no more videos from me for a while ...

Don't leave valuables in your car man. It might be a pain in the ***** unmounting and remounting your dashcam and other gadgets like a GPS but try to get into the habit of doing it cause by doing so you greatly reduce the risk of what just happened to you.

what year is the csx? looks the same as a honda civic?
call a junk yard for same year but honda civic glass or
go to a glass specialist not your dealer as the dealer will use a glass company and charge you for it

when my ford focus had rear window smashed with a brick i took it to knights bridge auto glass in london ontario
cost $120 installed and they cleaned up all the glass shards

That sucks. The thief probably had to take the dashcam since it could have recording of his face. Question - does your car have an alarm system?

Trigger based stock alarm ...only activates when door is open, so they avoided that ....

What area did this occur in? And which dashcam did you have?

I used an Optimus One cell phone as my dash cam with Daily Roads installed.

Happened in the Bathurst and Strachan area.

I never heard of anyone with a dash cam before joining this forum. Is it very common out East?

It sucks to have to replace your windows...we had it happen twice in one year, once was the drivers side window on a Civic and then it was the back window of a Mazda van...that one was expensive because it was tinted glass and had the defrosting wires imbedded in it. Call around to salvage yards and to various glass places...I learned they can vary a lot in price.

lol.. knowing this place, there is a very high chance my stuff will be stolen if I leave it visible in the car. I never dare leave any sort of electronics in there. Give it a day and some drug-molested teenager WILL break in and take my stuff >_>

Worst case is if I don't want to carry my GPS, I will hide it in my car somewhere where it isn't visible and is not in an obvious location like the glove box.

The window is really easy to replace on your own, Buy the part from a junkyard, shouldn't cost you any more than $100.

That seems to be the consensus about green lane. Haven't personally used them.

You cannot. One way to have it is have a camera that is built in to a rear view mirror. This is the best disguise, but none built this way is any good in output.

My condolences, but the thief probably would more likely recognize a phone as a pricy item easier to sell than a dashcam, nor would s/he likely know the price of a Blackvue. Furthermore, the Optimus One costs $200, about the same as the price of a Blackvue. The only defense against this type of theft is to take it with you in unsafe areas.

Lol where were you during the boxing day $50 sale?

Op, anytime you leave stuff out in the open anywhere, you're somewhat asking to get things stolen.
