No one died. Good news if it was true. But ABC says at least one died.:(

Time to think about getting on Megabus.

Your chances of winning Lotto Pick 3 are probably 10000x better than being present in the next Megabus accident. Besides, it seemed to be a freak accident involving a tire blowing out and loss of control. Not mechanical negligence or driver error (at least from what I've read so far.)

I did see the front end of the bus crumpled like an accordion into the concrete wall it hit though. Looked horrific. I'd be surprised if the driver wasn't killed instantly or at least severely injured. Feel really bad for the bus occupants without seat belts, especially the rows near the door...

From another article (http://www.kmov.com/news/local/Dou-164778076.html) about this:

Zaq Hall, who was riding the bus, said everyone was helping each other after the wreck. He said two people were pinned on the top level and the driver was trapped on the bottom.

Hall mentioned he had been on a Megabus two days prior that also blew a tire.

This company is pathetic. Lots of passengers have complained about drivers driving around in circles and not knowing where they are going, which ultimately is what led to the accident near Syracuse. Now with this it looks like they might be skimping on the maintenance?

The pressure on the tires must've been way off. I'm very sure they're really cheaping it out in maintenance.

This is not big news. I agree. Justin Beiber tweet to Olympic players is news.

The part that would raise the most concern is where it says "According to the NTSB, the fatal accident rate for curbside bus operators is seven times that of Greyhound."

Seems like bus companies similar to Megabus are raising many safety concerns. They might be cutting a lot of corners to get fares so low. Megabus rightfully gets more scrutiny after that accident in 2010 that was so ridiculously stupid.

This isn't as bad as the 2010 Syracuse accident, that accident was concerning. The low bridge the bus hit had several flashing illuminated signs that warned of a low bridge.

I say if you are going to ride megabus, stick to the lower floor. In these accidents it seems those on the top (paticularly the top front) are the ones who end up more hurt / harder to get at.

Perhaps we should do what most Western European countries do, make coach buses drive at 80 km/h.
