No, they are PS2 games with improved 1080p graphics and trophies. Great if you never had the chance to play them on PS2 or if you want to enjoy them again in high def.

i don't think it's worth it if you already have the original ps2 version. The HD is nice but I actually have all 4 R&C games on PS2. If you don't have it,then yes, definitely worth it.

I don't know what you're on, but IMO every one of these games is worth $20 each. I own them all on PS2, and I'm happily paying $25 to own them again for the PS3.

I never had a ps2. They did a similar re-release of the original God of War games. I quite liked the ability to go back and play them and in HD. I look forward to playing the first ratchet and clank games.

^^^I don't think these HD Collections go on sale that soon. These usually start at $39.99 brand new then stay there for a while. MGS HD, DMC HD, Jak & Daxter HD... the lowest I've seen them is $29.99 and last I've seen that price for was during the Best Buy Summer Sale. God of War and Ico / Shadow of the Colossus Collections took a while to get down to $19.99

This is a good price at $24.99 because these collections usually take at least 3 months to hit the $19.99 bargain bin.

The problem I have with most of these PS2 reissues is that they just basically look like what they are - upconverted PS2 games. Usually not much work was put into the textures and graphics. They should really all launch at this price because $40 is way too much for these collections.

I preordered this but since I own the PS2 games, I may cancel. Will look at some screenshots to see how much they cleaned up the graphics.

It's too bad that Sony has removed all backward compatibility from the PS3 and is forcing us to buy all the game games over again. Yes, I could hook up my PS2 but i like the upconverting of the PS3 and being able to use my wireless controller.

Would love to see a repackaging of Dragon Quest 8 that runs on the PS3 and sells at a budget price.

Only HD rerelease I had issues with are the Capcom ones (RE4, Code Veronica, and to some extent DMC). Now those look like Capcom just upconverted them and never bothered doing any other work. Others like the God of War, MGS, Ico/SotC, Sly Cooper etc. were actually "remastered" and had work on the actual game assets (I think the God of War collection from the PSP games were even built from the ground up).

I agree $39.99 for these is a bit too much. Any time they drop in price to $29.99 or lower, I jump at it to add to the library.

I think he's operating from the perspective that if you already own them what's the point of paying extra for the fancy graphics. I loved the original games, but they had their time - and place. I won't be replaying them, so while they may be worth the price tag, it'd just sit on my shelf. I'm with him.
