Hi all :)

Sorry to bother u with this basic topic, but I am getting sick and tired of my "choppy videos" little Dell Mini Netbook, and was looking at these two notebooks (both are Asus), and would love to hear your opinions on which one to consider (or something else in the same price range - $400). My use is strictly as desktop replacement for basic internet and basic (but smooth) videos, like ctv olympics and such:

So many thanks.

I'd go ASUS A53Z-NB61 since it has a dedicated video card... I doubt you'll see much difference from both CPUs for the stuff you mentioned. You do get less ram though but the integrated graphics card might eat some of the 6GB on option 2 since option 2 says, "Shared system memory."

Option 1 also has 6 cell battery compared to Option 2 which has 4 cell. So Option 1 has a bigger battery.

edit..
you might be better off finding laptop with better resolution though, extra $100ish

Thanks for this. Re. resolution, it doesn't matter to me, since I keep lid closed and use a 24" HDMI monitor and USB mouse and keyboard.

I would get the AMD laptop. Intel is usually known for long battery life and better performance, but this intel laptop does not have those qualities. The intel laptop is trying to offer good bang for the buck which is something AMD does a better job at.

With AMD laptop you will get longer battery life (newegg reviews says the intel laptop gets 2 hours, I am guessing the AMD will give you 3 to 4 hours) and you will get the ability to play modern games on it at low settings.

I agree with the rest of them, the AMD laptop is a great deal at $450.

Edit: Or wait for this one to come in stock: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=74576&vpn=K53E-QB91-BK-CBIL&manufacture=ASUS
