Any predictions?
When?
On August 9, 2012 coinciding with release of the new LTE models?
This thread is dedicated to the eventual price point of the 16GB model and its inevitable price drops...as the new models come out and as Apple releases a mini-iPad...

This guy is one heck of a persistent, patient optimist...
Can someone please tell us if the current-generation Playbook 16GB will go down to $99.99?
WHEN is the playbook gonna reach $99.99 like the touchpad last summer???? anyone know when?
You mean HP touchpad at $100. The playbook has nit reaches $100 yet has it?
The PlayBook will be discounted at $_____ ?
Discuss. whether it's iPad3 or iPad2S...will likely release of this new iPad drop the prices of current iPad2's and iPad1's which means further discounts on PlayBooks?

The latest news...I seem to recall that Sears sells BlackBerry playbooks so maybe they will be finally $99?

I really don't see it hitting $99 anytime soon. RIM is sticking with the tablet game (unlike HP) so a firesale is unlikely.
IMO, the LTE model isn't enough of a change to drive the price of the older model down by more than the $20 discount currently in effect. As it is, the device is a steal at $179.

I was given one at xmas and I still ended up dumping it. Thats how useless the thing is.
Its funny listening to the owners on crackberry forums who paid launch prices for theirs are still trying to justify it lol.

Not all products get reduced to clear out pricing. note the Apple Tablet.. think they'll hit $99? (I did see the original in Factory Direct for $299) I suspect Rim already has reduced inventory to an on-demand ordering system. On model clear out look to a store like Staples to reduce at their loss. It's not like there is skids & skids of this product to clear... in the HP case this was true, it was just introduced and product was not moving.

I'll be honest. I have an iPad already (2nd gen) and paid the standard $600 for it.
Missed out on the HP touchpad sale but glad I did because of it's more limited functionality. Envy the nice speakers (beats audio) on the hp's though.
Would totally want a PlayBook for $99. $179? Still too much given it's small 7" size.

The speakers are better because they just used slightly larger speakers. Rarely people ever mention this as a feature because it's not.

If this could run Jelly Bean, it would be under mild consideration at $179.
The Toshiba 7" 250 is $200 at this time at Best Buy, and is a pretty good deal. 7" screen with 1280x800 resolution, microSD, mini USB, micro HDMI, 32GB onboard.

does LTE version conflicts with the wifi version though? I dont think so though. Apple is selling both version together without any price drop.

Probably trying to fix the bugs in the latest OS update. Give it a bit of time. Why would 16 GB go down in price? According to RIM, they have no inventory of 16 GB units left. If you want one that badly at that price point you may find one on Kijiji but the ones I've seen listed are all above that price point.
I still use mine evey day...the TV apps (non existent on IPad), email, web surfing, etc. are all good. It's my portable unit so it goes everywhere I go since it fits in my pocket. I get a laugh with these people at Starbucks with their laptops and carrying bags to just surf the net! As to games...really? The best stuff is on computers and consoles. Let me know when Diablo III or even Torchlight makes it to the tabs. Not to say I don't like games like COD: Zombies but they are so limited compared to their computer counterparts. And don't tell me you PREFER to play games on a 7" screen since you are probably lying to yourself and are really playing on your 55" LED at home...

A friend of mine at RIM says they are either still having, or having again, the $100 off for employees, so $99 for the 16GB, up to $199 for the 64GB....

Thinking to get another one of these on Sunday. I enjoy using it for an E-reader / Video player / internet browse when I'm out and about without bringing the laptop. Some of the games are fun although mindless. The GF got her hands on it and I havent been able to pry it away from her since LOL. Guess its time to buy a second.

You'll actually want to get out and get it tonight or Saturday because you can get it for the equivalent of $129.99. Check this thread out:
