Is it an Acer or HP? I am guessing that it is one of these two brands.

Seems a bit expensive based on the deals you can get now and the resolution is pretty low for such a large screen. Lenovo (http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:category.details?current-catalog-id=12F0696583E04D86B9B79B0FEC01C087¤t-category-id=C7563337D3E07CC4B84607F2E57AE7FD&action=init) has a laptop for $65 more and you get a faster processor a better GPU, 8 GB of ram, etc.

My advice would be to go with this one:
http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/webca/LenovoPortal/en_CA/builder.workflow:Enter?mtm-item=%3A000001CA%3A00001373%3A
It's a bit pricier, but if you can afford that difference, it's a significant upgrade.

The display is pretty stinky on the vaio.
You can use epp pricing too I think (??) to get even better deal for what fpiacente wrote.
Both laptops are probably going to get pretty hot, might wanna find cooling pad.

George,
The 1366x768 screen on my 14 inch Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E420 isn't that great....average at best. Not familiar with the displays from their Ideapads however.

Noo I don't mean the quality of the display. I mean the resolution, 1366x768 looks like the screen is on zoom mode or something. SO BIG

Yeah, for 15" I'd look at 1600x900 or maybe slightly greater.

for a 15", going 1920x1080 hurts my eyes, things are way to tiny but that's my opinion
