Anyone else playing this RTS game?

It's pretty simple, create farm for gold, build barracks, form a large army quick, upgrade troops, wipe out enemy's base.

The play map is eye catching.
Overall 6/10, it's definitely not great like Starcraft.

I found it to be pretty good. Most of the guys who worked on C&C did this so it plays a bit like Generals.

Whats so great about Starcraft?

I want to get this game but I'm sorta addicted to WOW. Heck, I don't even have time for Counter Strike

Yeah WoW is sucking up all my game time too. Like I said before, with KOTOR2 and this game coming out... I simply don't have the time to enjoy all these fines games! :(

If you're a big LOTR fan, this game is definitely worth it. It plays like C&C Generals but in a LOTR theme. The music, sound effects, voices are straight out of the movies. All 3 of them, thus far, I am playing on the Good campaign and I'm on act 17, The Defense of Osgiliath (or rather, the fall of Osgiliath).

There's 30 acts per side (Good and Evil). I am near the Siege of Minas Tirith, which is going to be awesome!! I fought for Helm's Deep a couple of days ago and it's just like the movies, the wall gets blown up and you have to retreat and keep your heroes alive, then summon Eomer and Gandalf when they come with the Rohirim and run over the Uruk-hai mofos! It's a THX certified game so crank up your speakers when your horses do a calvary charge!

It's currently at 83% at Game Rankings (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/918989.asp), a website that collects game reviews. The general consensus is that it's a good "light strategy" game which makes really good use of the movie license. Harcore RTS fans might think it's too simplistic but it looks like it's right up my alley. I'll pick it up on Boxing Day.

Balrog, Nazgul/Fellbeast, Army Of The Dead, Eagles are nasty. With the right combination strike, you can wipe out the enemy's base.

That Balrog is the most scariest in skirmish. You need all the heroes to take him out.

I sent about a hundred Gondor swordsman towards the Balrog in a skirmish, he basically made lunch meat out of them within 5 seconds. Didn't really help the fact that they were cowering in fear, the calvary didn't help much either since they ran away. Then I finally sent in Gandalf backed up by a bunch of Rangers/Bowman and he knocked the snot out of the Balrog! :cheesygri

I agree, sending one or more heroes isn't gonna kill the Balrog.

Army Of The Dead is probably even worst. The Dead doesn't deal fast damage to buildings but kills non-structure buildings instantly. Can't even kill them, just wait till the time runs out.

Yeah, thank goodness it takes a long of power points to summon them... so I suppose that balances it out.

Give in to your anger, Luke. You do not yet know the true power of the Dark side... It is your destiny!

Er.. whoops wrong game.. :o

Um...

The game, it calls to me. It is mine...my own... my prrrecious! :)

Wow I just defended Minas Tirith, on Hard mode... First they sent a bunch of Orcs..and siege towers, and catapults. Then they sent in mountain Trolls, and eventually the Haradrim and their Mumakill came... I lost so many trebuchets to their Nazgul, there were like 9 of them, just like in the movie! They came swooping from the sky with their loud shrieking... Then came the battering ram... I was like, wtf....!! My archers could not kill the Nazgul quick enough, trolls just kept banging the walls and doors... finally, the Rohirim came but got squished by the Mumakils... finally, at the last minute, Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas arrived and Aragorn summoned The Army of the Dead and it was all over. My forces could finally counter-attack and drove them away from the Pelonor Fields... it was victory at last! It's one of those gaming moments you won't forget for awhile...

Whats so great about Starcraft?

It has great balance & usability.

Haven't played other RTSs in a while, but AOE2 & CnC games are really annoying to try to control

This game is fun to play for a few days and then it's gets kinda old. Last long enough to build up points and buy magic powers to heal/armour bonus to summon Rohan riders/Elvish Archers to Nazgul/Eagles to Balrog/Army of The Dead. Once you have these powers, your enemy is toast.

The multiplayer engine is rather annoying. And so many people with firewalls or whatnot and unfit to play online. Ah well, game is still kool especially if you're a LOTR fan. What's everyone's favourite group? I use strictly Rohan

Gondor... because the soldiers only cost 10 command points... hehe plus you get Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, and Faramir too. That's basically the leads in my army, hehe...

Just finished playing the evil campaign at Minas Tirith in hard mode. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli comes in with the army of the dead. I summoned the Balrog and he killed all of them. I used the flame whip on Aragorn and he got tossed into the air and landed dead. I cracked up.
