Has anyone used these sites before?

Any experiences? As they seem to be geared for American sites.

I checked biddingfortravel.com, very confusing site... I don't know where to start to look for offers. Seems like there are a million threads. But I don't see anything for Canadian departures, it seems to be all geared towards Americans

As far as I know, you can't use Priceline for air travel originating in Canada.

But you can definately use Priceline for hotels in Canada, I've done it at least 10-15 times in the past 2 years.

Non-Americans can only get the deals from Priceline with an Amex card; the Visa/MasterCard trick stopped working a few months back.

Before bidding, check with the usual sites what the going rate is, and who has availability; you don't want to overbid. Also see what Hotwire's rate is.

The hotel of choice on Priceline is Marriott (when available), as they have a stake in Priceline.

Learn and utilize the "free rebid" system.

I use Priceline at least every other month, and it has yet to fail me. Priceline is the 2nd cheapest way to get the best deal on Hotels. For example, the going rate at one hotel was $124/night, where the cheapest alternative was $70/night at a Motel 6, Priceline got me that $124 hotel for $40 tax in. This was in Silicon Valley USA for those who care.

So basically if I don't have an Amex and live in Toronto, I can't use Priceline to do anything?

you can use mastercard, but not visa (something to do with their address checking scheme).

I have used Mastercard just a few months back on Priceline. Just select CA as your state, then type in CANADA in the address field. Put in 00000 as the zip code. That always worked for me.

As for bidding for travel, they're very strict on the format of your post. It can be intimidating to post at first. You think you get scolded on RFD for not using the search engine, it's worse there.

Yeah, before anyone posts there, you guys should read all FAQ's in there. It's very informative and helps you save money. If you need bidding assistance, MAKE SURE YOU READ THIS

and post your answer to all 10 points. This is the only way that the admin will help you by offering tips and strategies.

And same as watewate, I've also used a Mastercard with CA for state, CANADA in the address field, BUT I used 99999 in the zip code (this is what they advised in the FAQ).

BTW: I've found that airline tickets originating from Buffalo Int'l Airport (BUF) are way cheaper than flying out of Pearson. It also saves you the hassle of going through immigration at the airport.

"Can I place a request if I am not a U.S. resident?

You do not have to reside in the U.S. to place a request; however, the credit card you use to purchase your tickets must have a U.S. billing address. Travel requests may be placed using an American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa credit card.

All travel must originate within the United States, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

If you live in the United Kingdom or Asia, visit Priceline Europe or Priceline Asia to purchase tickets."

I am not sure how you guys used Priceline even with AMX. Do you have a US address for your AMX.
