i am thinking of purchasing a second Bell expressvu receiver, the 3100 is the only one listed right now. Is there a new one coming soon does anyone know? And also, does bell have additional charge for 2nd reciever in the house? like Outlet fees with rogers? It's not listed on their website.

Yes, I think they do. Someone jump in here but memory says, $2-$5?

I believe it is $5 for each additional receiver up to a maximum of 4 receivers. However, some people have successfully complained and they waived the fee.

There is a new receiver on the horizon. It is already released for Dish Network, so Bell is just testing these units and it will be available early next year.

I suggest you get the 3100 while you still can.

The new receivers use an internal smart card. They have already replaced the High Definition receiver with this technology.

gee: i'd like to know what arguments can be used to have this fee waived--seriously, i'd like to know. . .tia

They do not charge anymore for extra receiver. They changed their pricing a few months back. (I have 5 receiver on my account.)

If you complain about the service (wind and satellite blacking out) and threaten to move to digital cable, they will usually offer you something, discount long distance, cheaper DSL etc and you can then request that the additional cost of the receivers be removed.

ditto. they've been real idiots about my account with them--absolutely brutal customer service and dealing with them on the phone is excruciatingly painful--i'd rather have root canal work done.

Called bell today, confirmed that there is no extra charge for another receiver if you are on their new programmign systme. I switched over to the new progamming today. I was on the "super 7" programming before.
