24" (minimum) LCD; what to buy?

I have had a Dell WFP-2407 since the day they came out; daily use, and it's still coasting along like new.

However, I need another screen (2nd monitor, or a new primary, if it's bigger), and I am not willing to fork out the cash for the new version of this monitor. I don't need awesome colour reproduction, but I do need as high a resolution as I can get (doing cad stuff). id like the matte finish as well, if possible, but it's not super important.

basically looking for a good value, reliable LCD, in the 24"+ range.

Get one of the 27" 2560x1440 resolution, sRGB gamut models. Like the Dell U2713HM, Viewsonic VP2770-LED, or one of the Korean 27" 2560x1440's. Height wise they should be fairly close to your 2407. You'll need a video card with a Displayport or Dual Link DVI-D port to handle the high bandwidth requirements of these.

For value: Korean 1440P 27" monitors at ~$350
Budget choice: Dell Ultrasharp U2412M 1200P monitor at ~$290 on sale
The default choice: Dell Ultrasharp 27" 1440P monitors at ~$600
Best bang for the buck choice: Korean 30" 1600P monitors at ~$500
