I've never been a boxing fan but I really like these games. In the sequel you have to do training before you can compete. My problem is the 6th thing you have to do (right after blocking and dodging). Its called parries and I can't figure out what to do; I've tried every combo I could think of and I can't get past it.
So what the frik is a parry and how do you do it in the game?!

I haven't played FN2, but from past fighting games, a parry is basically deflecting an attack either by the exact same move or something that cancels out the attack.

you block and then you attack..actually u just block....either the left side or right side...its very simple

Figured it out, BTW... A parry is when you block his punch and push it away at the same time.
Since learning that I got the Amateur title, the Light Heavyweight, Heavyweight and Unified titles. I lost the Heavyweight to another character I made I can't beat the f**ker.
What a damn sweet game. Too bad you can't import your characters from the 1st Fight Night.

why did they make it so that it is so frustrating when you are about to knock the opponent down. He keeps blocking your power punches.

I won the belt in part one relatively easily.

Controls are the same... to parry, get your hands up for a block and the second he hits your block, push them away.

I played the game for about 30 minutes yesterday. It's pretty much the same as part one with tweaks here and there. I've only fought 3 times and I haven't turned pro yet. Waiting to see how the cutman feature works.

Damn game! Ruined my controller, the repetitive striking and use of the R-Analog sticks caused some damage. Now when I play NBA Live 2005, my players start crossing out buy themselves. !!!!!!!!!!!!!*****!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep... I've come to that conclusion too... Seems that my left stick has the tendency to move to the left or right at random...
Class action suit against EA Games! Demand new game pads! :D

haha what are u guys talking about? is this just for the different controls in fight night two?
i never feel like i'm messing up the controls in figth night one...
by the way, is there a huge difference in these games? i know degenerate said there isn't....
but i'm guessing graphics are 100x better.....i've saw soem clips on the net and they look WOW
whats the play style like? exact same controls and options as FN 2004?

The graphics are way better and the movements of the clothes and other little details are intense...
The real big difference between the two is that you can hire cutmen, trainers, and ring girls. You can take the role of the cutman in between rounds.
There's also special fights you can do that are for lots of money, unlock extra items and don't count towards your stats.
The controller thing... well yeah, I think the game does make it hard on the controllers. If you got some crappy 3rd party controllers I don't think they'd last very long.

Does anyone know if there are extra fighters that can be unlocked in this game?
I have 3 belts right now and I have only unlock things in the fight store.

frikkin hope there is extra stuff... I got all three titles too and most stuff unlocked and now it's just title defense after title defense...
getting boring there now, EA Sports... gotta jazz up more than just the graphics...

This game is awesome. Only problem is I don't know how to parry. I'm on my 8th pro fight and I've execute a parry like 2 times and they were by accident. Any tips how parrying? Man I was so pissed that I was in round 5 of this one fight where I was beating the guy pretty convincingly. I had already knocked him down 4 times then out of the blue he throws a haymaker and without any notice I go down and my friggin guy wasn't able to get back up . My only knockdown and I wasn't able to get up. Sigh...

Yep... those damn parrys were hard as hell to figure out. Do an upper block and hold it up; when the other guy throws a punch and they hit your block, swing your arms and his punch will swing away from you. Thats a parry.

you just have to read your opponents, what i usually do is move in and out without having your hands up, most of the time the opponent will do a haymaker either left or right, itll take him about 2 seconds, so by then you can have your block up left or right, then do a counter haymaker and a combo.

wayyy sicker than the first fight night!
all my stats are high except for my agility. how can u boost the agility? i do the focus training on the punching bag and the combo dummy but the most i can get is +3 for agility on the punching bag (which seems to be the max). through the combo dummy, i can barely get + 2 pts.
what is the most effective way to boost agility?
i've purchased the trainers for speed and power, but they did not seem to help me boost my stats any higher than usual.. am i missing
what is the best way to do the combo dummy? should i make sure i hit the pattern correctly even if i am slow at it? or work on speed, if so, how do u do it fast - it seems to say i am too slow at it when it im hitting them less than a second apart.

I can't stand the combo dummy. The absolute worse was the speed gloves in part 1. I think I made contact maybe 3 times I'm not joking. Any tips on combos? I just keep throwing body shots. I find them to be most affective and they get through more often than not. And what's up with the specialty punch? it does like zero damage. Haymakers are 10x more affective.

Best way to jack up your stats is to get better gear in the fight store. For example, you can buy new shorts or gloves that give you +speed or +agillity.
That freakin combo dummy sucks big time... Now if only you could import characters that were created in the first game.
Anyone here play DefJam: fight for NY? Now that's a sweet fighting game...

Ya played that game, pretty good. Decent length, cool cinematics. Nice story mode, good customization. Sick moves. Pretty fun multiplayer.
Totally agree with you. Too bad it's so cheap now and old.
