Hey all.

I've got a Benq 1620 here, and I'm trying to back up a few DVD's I've got. I use DVD Shrink to copy the DVD to my hard drive, and have then tried burning the files using both DVD Shrink and Nero. Both times I've got coasters - or if not coasters, DVDs that wont play with either Realplayer or Windows Media.

I've got the latest Firmware (at least, I did as of like 2 weeks ago, AFAIK...), and I tried different burning speeds on each test - 2.4 on DVD Shrink, 8 with Nero.

Strangely, it seems to be this backup that's having problems. I have burned data onto both DVDs and CDs with no problems.

Could it be that the rip is corrupt? Or something I haven't though of?

I'm using the Benq 8x DVD+R's from Futureshop, if that helps.

Thanks for any help!

In DVD Shrink Preferences - under File I/O tab, do you have 'Enable burning with Nero' checked or unchecked?

I would recommend it be set to unchecked.

Also- another great freeware burning program is DVD Decrypter.. maybe try that?

you could always try using DVD Playing software to play the DVDs :cheesygri

PowerDVD is your friend.

Another thought would be using Nero CD/DVD Speed to do a quality test on the discs burned, it might be a quality issue (although I find that a little unlikely... but still possible).
