the hyundai tucson is a very nice car indeed. i think there is independant suspension so the ride is ultimately smooth for a sport utility vehicle.. it packs a v6 engine and a moderate amount of horses. i'm sure it'll sex you up when you drive it. Make sure you make the right decision however.. the lower models are 2 wheel drive.. its extremely difficult to drive a 2 wheel drie suv in the snow.. its even more difficult then a two wheel drive family car.. suv have a higher centre of gravity and more easily gets slipped on the road.. be advise if your looking for a suv.. make sure its a full time 4wd, part time or at least a shift-on-te-fly box.. hyundai i believe is a korean manufacturer so expect it to be as reliable as the japnese cars and more reliable then european, north american and german cars as well.. Korean brands are catching up to the japanese so its a good idea to purchase an asian brand.. i'm not saying that other brands suck.. its just that if you want reliablity and durability and your low in cash.. purchase the tucson.. you wouldn't have an issue of the problems.. i'm sure it'll last at least 7 years until you need a checkup.. i've had a toyota corolla lsx for 14 years.. no problems.. absolutely nothing. just change the oil filters and lubricate your car at the right times.. its best to maintain your car..
I have got these info from many websites and my personal experiences.. i might be wrong in some cases and not know it. so if anyone has any problems or changes.. just post it here.. i'd be glad to learn from my mistakes.

hyundai is indeed a korean manufacturer, but if you look at 2004 J.D. reliability ratings, they are at the very bottom of the list while the Japanese are at the top...

Incorrect.
http://money.cnn.com/2004/04/28/pf/autos/powerqualitysurvey/
NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - For the first time, Korean carmakers, thanks to a strong performance by Hyundai, have surpassed both domestic and European carmakers in initial quality, a measure of the number of problems owners experience in a new car.
Brian Walters, senior director of vehicle research for Power, calls Hyundai's performance one of the largest improvements the firm has ever seen. Hyundai bolstered its quality 29 percent from last year and 62 percent since 1998, scoring only 102 problems per 100 vehicles for all its models. Among manufacturers, only Toyota Motor, with 101, did better, Honda, also at 102, did as well.

not this again... initial quality and reliability are two different things. not saying hyundai isn't reliable but saying something is reliable because it ranks high in initial quality doesn't make much sense.

Just so you know that Tucson and Kia Sportage is the same car. And if you're looking for a compact suv, go for Mits Outlander.

What the hell is with everyone’s obsession about brining up meaningless studies such as JD powers and Consumer reports?
It has been proven many times that the data in these studies is often flawed or skewed. These reports do not accurately depict the quality of the vehicle.

while the studies are not perfect, they do give an indication on the reliability of the vehicle. And just where has it been proven? give me reputable sources that have been peer reviewed

Mits isn't going to pull out of NA, the worse case is buy out from Toyota or GM. Which the buyer will cover the warranty.
I agree you point but Outlanda is way better than Tucson/sportage.

mitsu is not gonna pull out of US, but canada is different story. and Toyota is NOT going to buy out Mitsu, Toyota has a philosophy of growing by its own products and never aquistion. and it makes no sense for toyota to take over Mitsu anyways. GM is having trouble itself and is in no position to take over Mitsu and their massive debt.
NOBODY is gonna touch mistu with a 10' pole

Mitsu has Chrysler still - and that's all they need.
Mitsubishi Motors is only one, of many, many companies owned by Mitsubishi.
