The Gladiator Theme is pretty sad :( (the finale one that is).
Or the Black Hawk Down theme (Gortoz a ran or something like that) nearing the end of the movie. Both of the songs are by Lisa Gerrard.

Not really, just search Gladiator and Black Hawk Down. Those are some really popular themes; especially Gladiator.

"BABY ONE MORE TIME"

Oh baby, baby
How was I supposed to know
That something wasn’t right here
Oh baby, baby
I shouldn’t have let you go
And now you’re out of sight, yeah
Show me how want it to be
Tell me baby ’cause I need to know now, oh because

Chorus:
My loneliness is killing me
I must confess I still believe
When I’m not with you I lose my mind
Give me a sign
Hit me baby one more time

Oh baby, baby
The reason I breathe is you
Boy you got me blinded
Oh pretty baby
There’s nothing that I wouldn’t do
It’s not the way I planned it
Show me how you want it to be
Tell me baby ’cause I need to know now, oh because

Chorus:
My loneliness is killing me
I must confess I still believe
When I’m not with you I lose my mind
Give me a sign
Hit me baby one more time

Oh baby, baby how was I supposed to know
Oh pretty baby, I shouldn’t have let you go
I must confess, that my loneliness is killing me now
Don’t you know I still believe
That you will be here
And give me a sign
Hit me baby one more time

Chorus:
My loneliness is killing me
I must confess I still believe
When I’m not with you I lose my mind
Give me a sign
Hit me baby one more time

Not so much for the funeral ... but ... a couple of songs on my playlist that fed my depression afterwards:

depeche mode - blasphemous rumours
"I don't want to start any blasphemous rumours
But I think that God's got a sick sense of humor
And when I die I expect to find Him laughing"

nine inch nails - hurt
"I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that’s real"

(The whole Downward Sprial disc is ... emotional ... mostly angry ... )

(I *HATE* country music... but my best friend put a montage together to this tune after his wife died... still &*^&* us up when we hear it)
Ronnie Milsap - I Wouldn't Have Missed It For The World
I wouldn't trade one memory
Cause you mean too much to me
Even though I lost you girl
I wouldn't have missed it for the world

Days by the Kinks

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
I’m thinking of the days,
I won’t forget a single day, believe me.

I bless the light,
I bless the light that lights on you believe me.
And though you’re gone,
You’re with me every single day, believe me.

Days I’ll remember all my life,
Days when you can’t see wrong from right.
You took my life,
But then I knew that very soon you’d leave me,
But it’s all right,
Now I’m not frightened of this world, believe me.

I wish today could be tomorrow,
The night is dark,
It just brings sorrow anyway.

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
I’m thinking of the days,
I won’t forget a single day, believe me.

Days I’ll remember all my life,
Days when you can’t see wrong from right.
You took my life,
But then I knew that very soon you’d leave me,
But it’s all right,
Now I’m not frightened of this world, believe me.
Days.

Thank you for the days,
Those endless days, those sacred days you gave me.
I’m thinking of the days,
I won’t forget a single day, believe me.

I bless the light,
I bless the light that shines on you believe me.
And though you’re gone,
You’re with me every single day, believe me.
Days.

Running To Stand Still

by U2

And so she woke up
Woke up from where she was lyin' still.
Said I gotta do something
About where we're goin'.

Step on a fast train
Step out of the driving rain, maybe
Run from the darkness in the night.
Singing ah, ah la la la de day
Ah la la la de day.

Sweet the sin, bitter the taste in my mouth.
I see seven towers, but I only see one way out.
You gotta cry without weeping, talk without speaking
Scream without raising your voice.
You know I took the poison, from the poison stream
Then I floated out of here, singing
Ah la la la de day
Ah la la la de day.

She walks through the streets
With her eyes painted red
Under black belly of cloud in the rain.
In through a doorway
She brings me white golden pearls
Stolen from the sea.

She is ragin'
She is ragin'
And the storm blows up in her eyes.
She will suffer the needle chill
She's running to stand still.

Lynyrd Skynyrd - Tuesday's Gone

Train roll on, on down the line,
Won't you please take me far away?
Now I feel the wind blow outside my door,
Means I'm leaving my woman behind.
Tuesday's gone with the wind.
My woman's gone with the wind. ....

I made a CD of music up a couple of years ago for my Mom's funeral (not during the actual ceremony though). It was music that she would have enjoyed like some country and light songs, but from the Seventies and Eighties.
I don't think you want to really have too many sad songs though. It's sad enough as it is.

blink-182 - Adam's Song
its gonna be played at my funeral

I never thought I'd die alone
I laughed the loudest who'd have known
I traced the cord back to the wall
No wonder it was never plugged in at all
I took my time, I hurried up
The choice was mine, I didn't think enough
I'm too depressed, to go on
You'll be sorry when I'm gone

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never thought I'd die alone
Another six months I'll be unknown
Give all my things to all my friends
You'll never set foot in my room again
You'll close it off, board it up
Remember the time that I spilled the cup
Of apple juice in the hall
Please tell mom this is not her fault

I never conquered, rarely came
16 just held such better days
Days when I still felt alive
We couldn't wait to get outside
The world was wide, too late to try
The tour was over we'd survived
I couldn't wait till I got home
To pass the time in my room alone

I never conquered, rarely came
Tomorrow holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I can't wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I'd survived
I can't wait till I get home

Jimmy Eat World - Hear You Me

There's no one in town I know
You gave us some place to go
I never said thank you for that
'thought I might get one more chance

What would you think of me now?
So lucky, so strong, so proud
I never said thank you for that
Now I'll never have a chance

May angels lead you in
Hear you me my friends
On sleepless roads, the sleepless go
May angels lead you in

So what would you think of me now?
So lucky, so strong, so proud
I never said thank you for that
Now I'll never have a chance

May angels lead you in
Hear you me my friends
On sleepless roads the sleepless go
May angels lead you in

(May angels lead you in)
May angels lead you in
(May angels lead you in)
May angels lead you in

And if you were with me tonight
I'd sing to you just one more time
A song for a heart so big
God couldn't let it live

May angels lead you in
Hear you me my friends
On sleepless roads the sleepless go
May angels lead you in

May angels lead you in
Hear you me my friends
On sleepless roads the sleepless go
May angels lead you in

R. Kelly - I Wish
Boyz II Men - It's So Hard to Say Good To Yesterday
Bette Midler - Wind Beneath My Wings

From High Fidelity:

Rob: "Songs at my funeral: "Many Rivers to Cross" by Jimmy Cliff, "Angel" by Aretha Franklin, and I've always had this fantasy that some beautiful, tearful woman would insist on "You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me" by Gladys Knight. But who would that woman be?"

Untitled - Simple Plan
Komm, susser Tod
Circle of life

but it's my funeral, it would have my special mix:

Play tears of heaven at the beginning and in the chorus, switch to never gonna give you up.

I wonder if someone has had "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" played at a funeral yet.

I want that one for my Mother-in-law's funeral.

The Gladiator Theme is pretty sad :( (the finale one that is).
Or the Black Hawk Down theme (Gortoz a ran or something like that) nearing the end of the movie. Both of the songs are by Lisa Gerrard.

Now We Are Free - Enya

(the Gladiator theme)
