Alright, a lot of people in University are in the same boat as me, so I figured I would ask for summer job recommendations for someone who fits this profile.

Degree: Some science subject. Math, chemistry, computer science, etc...
Past Experience: Teaching, tutoring, and academic research
Actual skills: Minimal. i.e. do well in school, but can't actually do anything in particular
Misc: Lots of random abilities - organized multiple events, member of variety of competitive clubs (debating, graphic design, programming, etc...)
Summer job criteria: Not retail. Not research. Not menial

Anyone have any ideas? I've never really considered non-academic jobs, so I'm kinda lost this summer =)

Sports camp counsellor? Depends on how well you interact with kids. There are so many jobs available for this, check with your local community centre, etc. I've done this at my local CC, and it's easy and fun.

Try a temp agency, usually they can place you quickly... within a week or so. and some jobs can last a whole summer. I worked at Zeller's Headoffice in Brampton for a whole summer. I got placed in 4 days after going for an interview with the temp agency.

House Painting? Landscaping? Tutoring?

I dunno, whatever you want to do, it's available.

apparently if u get a marketing job with a big company, it's the best.

i've heard some guy got a job with Universal studio to promote movies and stuff in GTA, so all he did the entire summer is driving in a HUMMER (PAINTED on a weekly basis to change addz) and goto beach volleyball tournaments or golf courses to promote the movie and give out free gifts. All with great pay.

Forget it if it is unsafe. One friend I had did a summer job as a rig worker. Now missing the tips of his fingers on his right hand.

If it's just a summer job work at a golf course. I too have the summers off from my work and I got a job last year at a golf course in town. Depending on what you want to do you can make some good money. Another bonus is you get a tan while working and get to met some interesting people. You could meet people that could help you find the perfect job later on.
