So, we've seen several polls like this, but the results remained anonymous....this time they are public, so that if we need any money, we know who to goto on RFD for a little short term loan
Please only include your base salary, do not include signing bonuses, stock options, incentive bonuses and other extra bonuses....
edit: base on this (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/showthread.php?t=144786), 16 ppl make over 100K...so where are does rfders now???

i am pretty sure it will be in the 20-30k range as that is the avg salary of canadians, and the poor ones show up on RFD, plus u got da teens who will bring down da avg.

Maybe the followup question should be: How much debt have you accumulated since becoming a RFD member? :cheesygri

If you make over 150k why are you on RFD? And I guess I should ask, occupation?

$30000-$40000
However location is a big factor on how much you earn. For instance since I live in K/W where the cost of livign is much lower then say Toronto. So a comparable salary in Toronto would have to be higher.
In other words someone making the same amount as I do, but livign in Toronto would be taking home much less then I do.

2nd yr: 40K

I agree...and especially if your income taxes are lower it helps....i'm in the 28% tax bracket....if i make the same amount of money in Ontario as I am making now, I will be in the 40+% tax bracket....there is a big difference there....
so, in essence, it is the same as me making 100000+ in Ontario....if we compare the after tax income....
but of course, the health care system isn't the same...here, i would have to pay for all doctor/hospital bills out of my own pocket....my health insurance will only subsidize a portion of the fee....

I've read that book a few years back and it does stress the point of living frugal and below your means. However, most people on RFD can't seem to pass up a good deal and will just buy something they don't need just because it's a "hot deal".

There's nothing wrong with rich people looking for a deal.
I've noticed a lot of rich people are tight with money. I've assumed that's how they stay rich...

true bill gates in one such person....he knows when to spend a lot of money and when to be tight about it....for instance, he just drives a regular honda (either civic/accord, not sure which one) cuz everyone knows that cars depreciate....while he spends a lot on his house cuz he damn knows that land appreciates....also he spends a lot of money on charity cuz he knows that the money will be put to good use....

you gotta look at the whole picture and not the individual themself....unfortunately you don't know the whole picture....
....some guy could be making 150K per year, what if it is salary, therefore there is no such thing as ot and what if it is wages, then ot pay is around $100/hour (70*1.5)....this is just a small part of it...
....now lets look at the whole picture, what if the guy is married and his wife is a house wife who does not work at all and thus the guy making 150k per year is prob making the same amount of money that a couple (husband/wife) is bringing in....now, lets blow up the picture a bit more, now say that they have 4 kids and all of them are going to university away from home....and the parents don't want to burden the kids with a hugh debt when they graduate, so they decide to pay for 100% of their tuition and 100% of their rent....
....now lets look at the numbers, 4 kids going to university = $30k/year tuition
....rent will be around 500/month/kid for a total of 8 months per year....so that is another 16k/year....and the parents promise to pay all of the tuition+ rent, so they pay 30K tuition + 16k rent = 46k / year....
....now, this guy's income is 150k, and his family's income is also 150k since his wife does not work....
....after taxes, he would have around 85k left, and after paying their kids higher education, he would have 39k, after their mortgage, food, utilities, they will have very little saved up....

You are talking about household income VS personal income here. I have nothing to add to what you have said, because I am certainly not saying that a guy with $150K/year will not come here for deals.... but less likely than what it is on the poll. (though I would spend some of my income on RRSP and convert my present earnings into future earnings so that I won't get hammered by tax if I rolled in $150K, as well I would start a scholarship plan (monthly premium, that earns interest) for my kids so I won't have to get smack by a $30K tuition fee)
There is something called opoporunity cost. A person who makes $100/hr will not put his time into cutting coupons from newspaper because he should be allocate his time into some revenue generating activites. For the same reasons, coupons are desgined so that people with less opporunity cost with their time will utilize the coupons, while people with higher income willl pay for the full amount.... this is the effects of price discrimination.

and if their household income = head of household income....and they have kids...then they will come here....
u gotta spend your money wisely, if you can get stuff for 50% of the price, y not? i'm still here and i'm making a lot, i didn't even convert my salary from us to canadian when i voted, i justed kept it in us dollars and used the numeric value as the basis of my vote.....
