I just bought a couple of these (http://www.officedepot.ca/ddSKU.do?level=SK&id=570096) today at Office Depot. Normally you can buy power bars pretty cheaply. However, I need the ones that will accomodate the stupid transformers that every piece of computer equipment comes with, but few computer power bars seems to account for. These only have four transformer-friendly outlets but it is better than most.

Despite what the web page says they are on sale at B&Ms for $19.99 this week (I think that regular is $29.99 but I misplaced the flyer so I can't be sure)

No where near the 11 outlet one from radioshack for 14.99 Last week!

I think most of us picked up what was around country wide!!

Still good surge protector if you are looking for one!

I wish I could have got one - there was a retraction at the cash - they wouldn't budge.

How do these compare to uninterruptible power supplies? I have an old American Power Conversion UPS which needs to be fixed, and I'm wondering if it would be worth it compared to buying a good surge arrest powerbar.

They aren't the same. A power surge bar protects against voltage surges on the power line. A UPS usually protects against voltage surges AND short intervals of loss of power.

Where? I don't believe Staples has these. So don't see where the PM is of value.

It's not a sale price. That's normal price at COSTCO.
