PS3 is probably so expensive when it first comes out, but probably worth it. If PS3 is more powerful than Xbox 360, then PS3 will be king! Nintendo will be dead last unless they change they're marketing styles.

Not necessarily. With this gen the trend has definitely shown that multi console is the name of the game for publishers. Hence they code for the weakest successful system and port it over (for this gen, PS2). I doubt they'd super optimize it for the PS3.

Sony has a history of over hyping the power of its soon to be released consoles. Rember something like a person can only purhase 4 of them at one tie because they were afraid terrorists would use the ultrapowerful processor of the ps2 to control missles or some crap like that.
I honestly expect companies who sole business is only Processors (Intel, AMD) to be at the forefront of processor technology, not a company like sony or toshiba. In short I do not expect anything in the PS3 which will be more advanced than offerings in the Xbox whos processor is built by IBM which has a decent track record with it POWERPC architecture.

You know, of the current generation consoles, PS2, GC and XBox... The PS2 was the least powerful but the consensus is that Sony's PS2 has the top spot.
So I would say the power may have nothing to do with it who will top the next generation of consoles.

Actually IBM is one of the companies behind the Cell processor along with Toshiba and Sony. I believe IBM has it's hands in every next gen console (so I guess they're the real winners in the end).
From what I've read, the Cell, or atleast the basis of the Cell's design will end up in everything from TVs to cell phones and even servers but at the moment the PS3 is what's getting all the hype.
Also, you can't really knock Sony or any other hardware maker for hyping up their stuff as they not only have to get gamers excited about their stuff but developers as well.

what about nintendo next console, its supposed to be so cool and revolutinary, hence the name : revolution
article here : linky (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/8074/Revolution-Goes-Wireless-No-Show-for-E3/)
Nintendo announced today it has chosen Broadcom Corporation as the networking contributor for its next console (codenamed "Revolution"), confirming the wireless capabilities of the next-generation system. Revolution will feature an advanced wireless platform that integrates multiple technologies to enable a new and exciting gaming experience.
"The depth and breadth of Broadcom's wireless expertise will enable Nintendo to deliver the industry's most innovative gaming solutions," said Genyo Takeda, Senior Managing Director, General Manager, Integrated Research & Development Division for Nintendo. "By integrating Broadcom wireless solutions into our next-generation systems, we can provide the high performance gaming and connectivity capabilities that will delight users of 'Revolution'."
No Revolution at E3?
According to recent reports from Japan, Nintendo has decided not to show off Revolution at this year's E3. The decision would come from Nintendo President, Satoru Iwata, who is feared competitors could steal the "revolutionary" ideas Nintendo has developed for the new console.
"What we need is not a next-generation machine but a next-generation way of playing games," Iwata has said when explaining that Revolution won't be merely a more powerful version of its current GameCube machine. "We need to propose a new idea so that the game industry can overcome its current crisis."
The rumors say Nintendo will show off in-game footage but won't reveal the console features or the so much hyped controller. The new Zelda, Mario 128 and a new Game Boy Advance are supposed to be Nintendo's cards for next month's E3.

Don't forget 100 millions poys/sec. Which to this day they were never able to do. Most games do 3mil which is pretty crappy as Sega's Dreamcast did up to 5 million polygons per second.
Just like the PS2, Sony's marketing team will sell the PS3 to the fanboys, not it's spec for spec comparison.

Don't forget the Emotion Engine and Toy Story graphics.
Sony = load of BS hype
Wasn't Killzone supposed to be the Halo killer? Where is it now? I'd trust MS before I trust Sony. Meanwhile, it's poor Nintendo that actually underrates their own console.

I got flamed on GameTZ 2 years ago because my sig called it the "Emotionless Engine" haha. Fanboys came out, but settled down when I asked for proof that PS2 met its claims. I said from the beginning that Halo 2 was the only Halo killer, but you can't argue with a PS2 fanboy, just let them embarass themself.
