Poll: DVD-R or DVD+R

which side are you on? I prefer DVD-R. no reason, I just like it lol.

I like DVD+R, it's a more efficient format (from what I've read). That, and the BenQ DW1620 is really good with +R.

I have to agree with Pioneer when it comes to DVD-R vs. DVD+R and bitsetting.

Why bother with bitsetting for DVD+Rs? Most DVD Players support DVD+R booktype media now anyways... and all setting the booktype does is make the disc as compatible as DVD-R, so why not use DVD-R anyways, which is more readily available in any North American market then DVD+R.

Now for DVD+RDL it makes a HUGE difference... but that is because the DVD+RW alliance screwed up the format when making a seperate booktype for them. For DVD-RDL there is only the DVD-R booktype, which has been incorperated into every DVD player since they first started being made (since the DVD-R format was always planned to be in the works since the DVD format itself was created!).

Anyways, as for myself, I use both DVD+R and DVD-R, but 95% of my burning is still done on DVD-R, since it's 100x easier for me to get.

DVD-R (dvdr or dvd dash r, not minus r) is the official format, DVD+R is the bastard child :lol

DVD-RW is a rewriteable format and it is compatible with about 80% of all DVD Players and most DVD-ROMs.
DVD-R and DVD-RW supports single side 4.37 computer GB* DVDs(called DVD-5) and double sided 8.75 computer GB* DVDs(called DVD-10).

I still say go with +R and Bitsetting

Especially if you back up your PS2 and xBox games. I am not sure if the consoles support -R or +R media. But if it thinks it is an original -ROM, then for sure you will be able to play your LEGITIMATE backups.
