Hello,
I bought this setup as said in another post:
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/showthread.php?t=158924
And bought the AVR 135.
Now, I know absolutely nothing about this kind of stuff.
But I some how got it all hooked up and working.
Now first I got a question.
I have all these different surround modes...

Dolby Digtal
DTS 5.1
Dolby Pro Legic II
Logic 7 Cinema/Music/Enhance
DTS New: 6 Cinema/Music
Dolby 3 Stereo
Theater
VMAx Near/Far
5-channel Stereo

Which is the best mode to get the best sound from my system?
I rented a DVD yesterday and wasn't sure what to put it on. I put it on Dolby Pro Logic II /Movie, which from the descriptions seemed like the best one.
What should it be on for DVD? Regular Satelite TV? Music?

Now here is my problem.
I had it on the Dolby PL II. And it seemed like the first time the sound got a little louder (the volume wasn't even set very loud), the receiver/amp shut off, and said "protect" on it. Why would it do that for? I turned it back on, and it did it 2 more times. Then I just switched it to something like "5 channel" which I guess is the 5 Channel Stereo, and I never had any problems. How can I avoid that?

Thank you for your time, I am clueless.

for dvd, generally ,you should use dolby digital, but some dvd has dts channel (those dvd has dts option to choose from the setup menu), so you need to set your amp to use dts mode.

for tv, you may use either stereo or Dolby Pro Logic II

music should use stereo only.

the receiver/amp shut off, and said "protect" on it

One of the following must be the cause

- You have something connected incorrectly
- There's a defect in the unit (unlikely)

You should only see 'protect' if something bad is happening within the unit. If you've configured the receiver to use all the speakers, they must all be connected.

Make sure all your connections are tight and there are no shorts (i.e. bare wires touching each other).

Prologic 2 is best for things that don't have Dolby Digital or DTS. Ie, TV, or VCR. It's a simulated surround sound, so it takes whatever is a 2.1 signal breaks it up and fires it out in 5.1 channels.

When your in protect mode, its either your playing it wayyy to loud, or you have lose or crossed wires. Check the back of your amp and make sure all positives are in positive, and all negitives are in negitives. And make sure no bare wires are touching one another. Protect mode is a safety feature to make sure your not gona blow up your amp..

Thanks a lot.
Maybe a bad connection.
It wasn't very loud at all.
