I just returned from canadian tire where I purchased a small item about $10. I noticed that the cashier forgot to ask for my signature. Am I still liable for my purchase?

Do you know how it works?

If you contest the charge with your credit card company this is what will happen:

1. CC company will call CT and ask for a signed copy.
2. They will say that they don't have one.
3. The cashier will get into trouble.
4. CT may check cameras to show that you passed at the cash at the time and submit it to the CC company.

You will look like a lying weasel for trying to steal 10$.

Be honest at all times. Life is better that way.

rofl

sometimes you wonder how cheap people can get, after reading your A&P posts and now this......

wtf is wrong with people, so cheap and trying every loophole to not pay a dime for anything they WANT.
sometimes we are better off without these type of people

i wouldnt worry about it, its not like the CC checks if all your purchase has signatures. Only if you contest, they will check. But like the other guy said, you will get caught

No you said " Am I still liable for my purchase? " ... which is essentially the same.

Everything is cool. :)

You will get charged with fraud when they present that Canadian Tire video to your CC company, you'll get charged by CT management.

Keep the item if you need it. Just don't make a fuss about not having to pay it.

You still have to pay it, you have to sign to keep the vender safe from fraud, ever notice that you don't sign for online purchases? Yeah, that doesn't mean you don't have to pay for what you buy online, it just means the liability in case of fraud is shifted to the vender, and not the cardholder.

I don't know if CT has the same system the airport does, at the airport you dont need the signature of a CC because sometimes it gets so busy that signing it takes up a lot of time i think the system is called fast cash something like that, we only get signature when we expect a tip from someone like when I work at a bar, but other then that we don't need signature

haha this is funny. How did he rip off CT?

I still strongly believe he didn't rip off Dominion. Its Dominion's fault for putting all that overdue **** on the shelf. One day you will buy expired food, and than when you're sitting on the toilet shitting sour curdled organic acid milk, you'll smack yourself in the face for going to Dominion.

hit the A+P at the Bramalea City Centre on May 27 at 10:30 pm. Ended up with a full cart of products, from Humpty Dumpty Cheesies, to a Single Serving (Prepared in store) Ceasar Salad (With real bacon bits), to @-Litre Cartons of 2% milk, Soy Milk, Lactose Free Milk. My biggest score was in the bakery... where I found FRESH cakes with the wrong Expiry date stamped on them (May 01 instead of Jun 01) - they were $10.00 each, so I got 1 of each of the two types of cakes that were there.

In total, I got $75.00 for free!

This is the kicker.... when I went to the customer service desk at about 12:15am (Saturday morning now)... nobody was there. I went to ask a cashier if someone could come over to the customer service desk to help me, and she said that if the staff at the desk had gone home, then it was closed (Even though this is a 24 HOUR LOCATION?!?!). I said, ok, so I guess you will be able to process all of my "Fresh or Free" items, and she said no, and that after 10:00pm (the time customer service people go home) they do not honor "fresh or free". I told her immediately to get the manager, which she did.

He reluctantly walked me over to the counter, all the while talking to me about "oh.. there are a few of ya out here who try to take advantage of a good thing", and "I know my morals wouldn't let me take all of this stuff without paying for it". What a load of crap he was dishing out as he stickered all of my items (About 20 in all). Took about 1 hr 20 min. of shopping to find them.

Well, anyways... only one cashier was open at that time of night. I was nice and let a few people go in front of me, as I was unsure of how long it would take to run my items through. Only one person was behind me when I started scanning items. Well, by the time they had processed all of my items (It took them over 10 minutes), the lineup had stretched to about 15 people (haha!). What a joke! The manager was back and forth and still didn't open up another cash register, even knowing how long it would take them to process my items. I couldn't help it, but I had to laugh at the lineup.. it was quite the scene, and kinda embarassing with all of those pissed off people staring at me wondering what was taking so long. I wonder how many of them actually realized that my entire cart of items was FREE. Anyways... thought I'd share that funny story.

After reading this... I can't defend you. Perhaps you could give up your computer and your internet connection and "BUY" food. If you can afford these luxuries (PC, Internet, maybe a cell phone?)... then you're not in the streets.

I'm not surprised if he gets those free 3 months broadband internet when you buy something from FS/BB. Get a chocolate bar, 3 months with Sympatico. 3 months later, get another chocolate bar, 3 months with Rogers. And it repeats

The cakes he got for free were not expired. If you don't believe anything else he did was wrong, I'd hope you'd at least figure that was wrong.
