This is a repost but the first thread was not as specific.

I picked one of these up at a Rogers Store last Saturday, saw the thread... returned it and picked one up at The Source.

Great little phone good upgrade for Rogers Pay-as-you-go.
No activation fee or transfer fee.

Came to $115 (after taxes) with a $50 MIR... in addition to a $60 airtime credit.

After all the rebeates and aritime paying $5 for this phone is a good deal.

To receive the rebate, YOU MUST have your prepaid # active for 30 days! So basically make sure you, or someone you know, needs a new Pay As You Go phone #.

But isn't the $60 prepaid credit already good for 30 days? Or does one need to get another prepaid voucher besides the $60 credit?

That's a good deal! I got this phone a few months ago, and am pretty happy with it. It is a GSM phone, so some of the places I go to when visiting friends I have no signal. (used to get a signal on Roger's non-gsm) The phone IS unlockable (tried swapping cards with a friend of mine on fido). If you know what you are doing, the phone can be customized. At the time I got it, I also received one free month of WAP access. So, I got the ringtones, background images, customizations done in that time.

The one big downside to this phone if you like to change ringtones often, etc, is that it doesn't really support a data cable. Apparently one is kind of available, but you have to pull the phone open, and connect the cable under the batt (yeah, so you have to have the batt and the cable going at the same time). Most modern Nokias have a port on the bottom which you connect the cable to. If you don't want to customize anything, or if you don't mind spending the few cents every once in a while to use the WAP, then it's a pretty decent phone.

Honestly, though...for what it's worth...considering the prices of things, I'd rather use Virgin mobile at this point. Uses the Bell network, is A LOT cheaper per min, and if you like to use WAP, you pay for a day of usage, not for each webpage. (If you use WAP, you get charged 10 cents, and then you have unlim usage to the end of the day).

i just phoned a local radio shack in vancouver and they have this deal. it's basically 99.99 AND a $50 MIR which means it's $114 (counting taxes) - $50 = $64 total. the guy did say he doesn't know if they'll accept the MIR because of the special promo but it's "worth the try".

...ok i'm not buying it and activating it if the mail in rebate is not valid!

Hmm... sounds kind of fishy. It doesn't sound like it's worth a try to me either. Thanks for looking into it.

I just got one for my wife. The rebate I got was the old one, but you can download a copy of the new rebate on the FAQ (wireless section) of www.rogers.com. It's actually just the date printed at the bottom right corner that's different and the terms and conditions of the rebate (like keeping the number for at least 30 days, which did not appear in the old rebate form)

The RS that I was in in Victoria had a sign up about the deal, listing the after rebate price and the $60 call time included. $114 out the door, rebate form already submitted...

I was debating about this phone for a long time, but in the end I don't think I'll get it even though it is free (since you are really just paying for the $60 credit). I have a $50 Fido credit I just purchased recently for $40... but the pay-as-you-go rates for local and long distance are much better than Rogers' rates, HANDS DOWN.
