Was over at a friend's place last night, and his Bit Char G was broken! Oh, the horror!

so... I took it back home and warmed up the soldering iron...

those things are SIMPLE!!!! Its gotta be so easy to mod..... I think that its about time for a quick trip down to Pacific to grab these soon!

The Bit Char G is the original mini r/c car that was made by Tomy in Japan...you see a whole bunch of knock offs all over the place now...

Just a question, do the kits (http://tinyrc.com/qfm/racing/051.htm) come with a controller or not? Not very clear.

they have to -- the batteries are in the controller and teh car itself holds a capacitor....

so it does include a radio controller for the car, cause it just says:

3 bodies
1 chassis
1.0 Micro B Motor
35 MHz freq
9.86:1 gearing

in the parts section there are no controllers, so i assume that the kits include one, or else where would you get one

i'm just learning about these things, but i really could get into it!

I got three myself - a white Nissan Skyline, a yellow Honda S2000 and a dual speed Nissan Skyline. In terms of accessories I got a booster controller, 3.0 motor, a variety of different gears and coloured wheels :) Very fun to mod!

I'm currently upgrading the internal batteries to achieve longer run times.

where's the cheapest place to buy these?

Pacific Mall. Make sure you buy the original Tomy bitchargs, not the knockoffs. I have a clone I picked up for $10 (vs. $37-$55 tax included for the bits) and it's crap.

they have to -- the batteries are in the controller and teh car itself holds a capacitor....The small size of the car might make you think that it had a capacitor. That was my initial suspicion, however, the cars acutally house a small NiCad battery.

The NiCad doesn't get near what would be considered a full charge. It just gets a quick blast from the batteries in the controller, enough for the car to run for what - 5 minutes?

I got one from Londond drugs for $19.99 + tax, it came with a 2.2 motor and it's pretty fast.

I've also seen Chinese new year night market in Vancouver selling them for $18 no tax, an awesome deal, same as the London Drugs one.

Do you think this car could be modded in some of the same ways as the Tomys?

The LD ripoffs are crap.. friend of mine had to buy and return four before he got a good working model.

Then it turns out to tbe same frequency as mine :(

I've got the Tomy Pennzoil R34, it's cool, but its range is too short. :(

Heh, yeah i bought 2 a while back, both are now in pieces cause they are crappy knockoffs. All the wires came unstuck cause of the shoddy wiring, I soldered them back, but they came undone again, and the ones in the remote came undone as well.
Lesson learned :) Plus the charging mechanism is not that great on them. I'd rather get a bigger Xmod car now, it will be easier to fix :D

yeah im looking for cool bodies like supras, pull back cars, etc.. whatevers.

as long as you are careful with these little things they seem to be alright, i got one thats pretty friggin fast now.. so it makes it a bit of a challenge to control.. plus it also got that neato turbo-button feature. 120mah battery, 3.8 motor, great tires etc etc!!

yeah, xmod/iwaver/mini-z... i am sooooo itching to get one of these BAD.. BUT, i am holding off cuz i know it will be an insane money pit....
