View Full Version : Lobster Special - $34.00

Jul 10th, 2005, 10:24 PM
Here's one I have had serveral times... also had it just last week...
The deal is offered on Mondays. It is 1 1/4 pound PEI Lobster, choice of soup or salad, coffee or tea, and includes ice cream for desert! The price is $34.00 (which is a good deal if you know about seafood). The lobster alone on other days is $34.95 for the same size 1 1/4 pounds.
The lobster is really good, it comes with drawn butter (tell them to put garlic butter in as well, it makes it outstanding).
The location is Pier 4 Storehouse Restaraunt on Harbourfront. The address is 245 Queens Quay West. South of skydome and CN Tower. Great patio as well if you are not in the mood for fine dining. In fact it has 2 patios, one is for the bar area which serves pizza, wrapes, burgers, wings etc. The other patio is on the south side of the building (right on the water), it serves burgers, wings, fish & chips, hot dogs etc.

wow..34 dollars..so really if it is 34 dollars on a regular day.. you are only getting a free soup/salad, side, and ice cream...
not too hot if you ask me
There IS a place at metro sqaure (bayview/hwy 7)..I'm not sure of the name..but it definately exists...its an all you can eat place that has unlimted steak, chicken, all sorts of meat, and trimming for 20 dollars.
if you add 5 dollars more you get unlimited seafood as well and yes that is including lobster..its probably no 34 dollar lobster but quantity and price over quality any day... (that goes for everything except for toilet paper)
if ANYONE can give more insight on this feel free to add. name of restaurant anyone?

Thanks.. great deal. Hmm.. maybe I shouldn't check my cholesterol for a month after this.
btw. QUALITY is more important to me. Once you get to a certain age you just can't eat as much (and buffet's are a waste of money) and had everything and tried everything.. Quality becomes oh so important.
When you're young you can down 5 X 12 OZ steaks.. I rather enjoy a nice filet mignon with a quality glass of Shiraz And maybe a creme brulee afterwards.

Heh heh, that's true for sure! I'd prefer a smaller cut of top quality steak or a really tasty dish than a whole bunch of mediocre tasting food. Buffets are good if you're under 25 and can still eat like a champ.

Why would you want to eat tons of low quality food as opposed to a smaller portion of high quality food. If that's the case why not just eat 10 big macs for $1.79 each? You'll save over $17.
QUALITY should be the most important over price and quantity - this goes for EVERYTHING including toilet paper.

So is it $34 or $34.95? The post is not consistent. Sorry but hardly a "hot deal" on any day of the week.

$34 is pretty good, was at lobster royale today and it was $37 for the 1 1/4 lb lobster which includes a soup, a salad, and a side...not sure which one is better though...

agreed with those who said it looks like an ad
for those who want good lobster in the GTA, go check out Lobster Royale on Yonge street, just before Clark (north of Steeles). It's a tiny store on the east side of Yonge, in the same plaza as The Friendly Greek (or Mr. Greek).
I think it's also around 34 bucks, and you get a whole lobster (probably also 1 1/4 pound, but I think they offer different sizes), along with soup, salad, side, and I think dessert.
The lobster is realllly good, and the soup (Lobster Bisque) is just...omg...I am drooling just thinking about it
But definitely a place to check out if you like lobster and have the cash

are you talking about 419...?its at commerce gate, metro square is at warden/steeles and commerce gate is more around leslie/hwy7 rather than bayview/hwy 7, the food there isn't that great so can't really compare an all you can eat restaurant to a $34 lobster...but the hilton hotel has a buffet saturday night which has cold lobsters and crab legs which is pretty good...

WOW... you can't post anything without people thinking its an ad...
You guys really need to lighten up...
Anyway, for those people who can understand quality, this is a good quality place. The lobsters are sitting in the tank waiting for you to order them

Hey, many of us who havent chimed in appreciate your posting. Just that many of us dont always reply to every post
I think this deal is quite reasonable indeed, as it is precooked, fresh. Hell, it even has butter included. Sure beats trying to kill a live lobster and then trying to steam it.
Thanks for the deal!

LoL... Thanks!
On another note, this is a nice place to take your date... it is on the water and in my experience (I have had a lot... I am quite fat :-0), you usually incure the cost of the location in the food...
So for those who prefer to eat on Yonge street... well, that is their preference hehe... I prefer the water!
On to my next post about a Tae Kwon Do special... hopefully no one thinks thats an ad too, just kidding.

Sorry boys, but $34 for ONE lobster is no good for me.
Twice a year we make a trip to the boats and buy 25-50 lbs of lobster (usually for about $4.50/lb - markets, not canners). My dad loves lobster so much, he built a stainless steel pot that can cook 25 lb at a time (pot was so heavy he had to build a stainless steal burner to boil it on).
Then we sit down (outside) and have a feed! I can usually eat 4-5 with a few beers (takes more than an hour). This is not my normal feeding habits, but I make an exception for this.
Nothing like sitting outside on a hot day eating warm lobster and chasing with ice cold brews.
:D

God, that sounds amazing. :D Cheers. :)
Honestly Chinatown has live lobster for 8.99/lb. Anything below 1 lb is too small, anything above 3 lb is too old and the meat is rough.
So ideally, you could buy a 2lber for about $20, toss it in hot water and you have fresh lobster. I guess if you want to go out and celebrate I could see myself paying double the price after tax/tip for a smaller lobster...

You gotta remember to cut cut it all into manageable pieces first, otherwise your jaw gets way too tired from all the chewing.

Yeeeshh $35 for a single lobster? I can't imagine getting full off that, even with a soup or salad. I'd rather stick to the buffets. It's great being under 25 and able to eat to your heart's content.

That is subjective is it not?
If you prefer to eat dead (before being cooked) lobsters, then sure... You can't beat the price.
I prefer my lobsters fresh... I agree with TheBurgerMan who gets the lobsters and cooks them all with his family, that must be a treat :)
You also have to consider the atmosphere of the restaurant... I would never take a hot chick to an all you can eat lobster buffet... unless she was an unclassy girl, then thats different :D

At least the post shouldnt be in the hot deal section. There's a place in the forum called food and beverages.
If everyone were to post every (good) restaurant's "specials of the week", we would have to rename "Hot deals" to "Suggestions of the day" .

The 72oz is not exactly a fine cut of meat. Its tough, its fatty, its tasteless, its crap (but then again, my regular steak at Lonestar was crap too...will never go back). We were calling the 72oz'er "ass-steak" (its more like an ass-roast). When they ask, make sure you opt to have it cut into pieces before it is cooked. Otherwise, you get a chunk of meat that's heavily burnt on the outside and practically raw on the inside, due to its size - remember, its more the shape of a roast than a steak. Two of my buddies failed the challenge, not because they were full, but because they were tired from cutting, and chewing.

When/if you go, do take some pics of you completing the dish for us please, thanks! ;)

This is a good deal, been there before, not for this deal tho, amazing food and service. I agree with those who said they prefer quality over quantity. Also consider the fact that you are eating beside the lake and the atmosphere is totally diff from most other places you go to. Good place to bring your date to for a night out. Went to the "all you can eat place" someone mentioned in this post the quality is >:( . Will never go there ever again. I'm definiately going there tomorrow. Gotta love seafood in the summer!! :cheesygri
