Hey, everyone?F

I just got my new cellphone Motorola v220 from Rogers. then unlocked it by 'motorola_unlocker_...' software and it displays 'done'.

so anyone knows how to check if this cellphone is really unlocked? just insert into another sim card? (i have another Telus SIM card)

Thanks.

I am not sure why you need your phone unlocked unless you plan on using it outside of Canada. Since you are in Nova Scotia, I am not even sure Fido has a network out there. So there is no way for you to test it, unless you find a SIM from a US Provider or a Fido User.

i may work outside canada, also i still wanna use this phone just by different sim card.

why someone dislikesthis cellphone? v220 is a nice free entry level camera phone ans supprt quad-band.

there donot have fido in nova scotia, but i guess aliant or telus uses sim card. actually i only wanna check if this phone is unlocked.

Hehe, the last time I renewed, Rogers customer retentions rep advised against this phone and suggested the free Nokia 3220 instead.

It really is a poor phone, even when all you need is a basic phone, thanks to poor audio quality and reception (tried a friends).

Telus does not use a SIM card. They are going thru Bell Mobility. The only way to test the phone is to try it when you travel.

Do you have a reason to doubt it is unlocked?

Telus does not use a SIM Card

Telus does have a sim card, but the sim card is just to back up contacts, it does not contain network information etc., but its just to save contacts from your phone into the simcard to transfer to another cdma phone, so you dont lose everything when you change phones, but some phones dont have the option for cmda phones of inserting a sim card, but a rogers sim card put in the telus phones will not work, but only a telus sim card will work, and the phone does not run from the sim card, hope i cleared a few things

That clears up a few things. So basically Telus offers a small memory card for you to back up your contacts.

I didn't even know CDMA phones have SIM slots.

If I get a Telus SIM card, can I use it to back up my GSM phone?

Some Cdma phones have sim slots, not all of them, and i doubt you can take a telus sim card and put it in a gsm phone back back up the contacts because telus sim card are just a memory storage it has no network, and you know your phone does not function when you have no sim card, it has a screen saying please insert sim, so i doubt it can happen
