RE: ROLLING POT
my friend went there a few months ago and wrote this review. he even put up a website with pictures but took the pictures down for fear of retaliation. he wouldnt' make this review up.
"I went today! And after finishing eating i looked closely at the soup and found @)#(*@#$ atleat 20-30 little bugs inside my SOUP!!! I called the waiter over and showed him, he called his manager and they said...
"The best i can do is give you a free meal, you can call the cops if you like, but if anything happens afterwards, we're not responsible!!"
Soooo, if i got sick, he said the Manager said over the phone, its none of his business!! I was going to keep it between me and the waiter and not let other customers know yet, so see how they would deal with it. After that the table behind over heard and the message went around the restaurant. Soon we discovered 4 other tables with the same thing.
The other tables ONLY got 10% off!! THEY ONLY OFFERED 10%!! Afterwards, they said I HAVE TO PAY TOO!! My pot had the MOST INSIDE! THe other pots had about 1/4 of the amount inside MINE!!
In the end she said sorry and that I don't have to pay! But that was it!!
What should I do now?
Its 1:30 am on the same night and I feel okay so far, i threw up outside my house when i got home."

its not surprising to find bugs in Hot Pot...the reason is that most restaurants do not spend a lot of time washing green leaf products...
all they do is stick it in the water and try to get the dirt off and the bugs...but most of the time there is lots of dirt and bugs stick between the trunk and the leaf stem.
why are you surprised?

um..it wasnt just a couple of bugs...the whole pot was filled with it..did you see the picture posted in original review?
it wasnt just your typical bug from veggies but from soup base instead.

oh my gawd..... thanks for the heads up. i think i will stay away from that place now. btw on a positive note, i've been to hot pot king a few times myself and it is much better than shabu shabu. both places are clean too, at least to date I've not heard of anything about either place.

i like hotpot king too... but i tend to get drawn to the bbq later on and forget about the hotpot
i try to get there at 1030 where its the cheapest (i think 15% off) and free bbq add on.

bugs in your food???
some people around the world eat bugs.
if the bugs were in boiling water- then they died. no problem.
what kind of bugs?
the hot pot restaurant way of eating seems gross to me... like they lay out the food and you pick yourself... seems unsanitary. the food is delicious. you can do it at home. looks easy.

How can you even say this? Why are you surprised????? We have this Pass/Fail restaurant grading system for a reason. I'm sure if they put a bowl of 30 bugs in front of you, you'd be either 1) pretty pissed or 2) pretty grossed out but either way you ain't gonna eat it nor will you be expecting it. How about this, you separate the leaves BEFORE washing em, not after. I haven't seen it done any other way.
