I happen to be in FutureShop on Pembina Hwy here in Winnipeg and saw an open box pair of Athena AS-F1's going for $199, no visible marks or anything on them. Decent deal considering the 1.2's are now going for $530.

So if any fellow Winnipeg RFDers are looking for these now's your chance.

Rich...

P.S. Might have been AS-F2's (if these exist?) I can't quite remember the last number :D, but they were floor standing Athena speakers.

Hmm these seem to be holdovers from the clearance, eh? Pretty surprising that there are Athena Audition (Series 1) remaining still but these are probably some of the very few left at any FS in the country.

If they are F2s that is an insane deal but I doubt they would be F2s. F2s have two 8" drivers, F1s only have one. Did the ones you see have one or two main drivers? But the F1.2s are considerably lighter than the original F1s which makes them a better purchase even if they were the same price! (In fact pretty much all the Audition Series 1 are better than the Series 2--they are pretty much the same but the originals are heavier, and IMO look better too.)

At $200, if there is nothing wrong with them--that's a great deal for the F1s anyway. They should be gone by tomorrow since you've posted this here. ;)

Yup I agree. I didn't think to look under the grill to determine how many drivers, I was really just shocked they had a pair left :).
