Finally got this wireless network going, but it's slow as hell!

the Link Quality is at or near 100% all the time and the Signal Strength hovers around 85% while the Speed indicator varies between 1 and 5.5Mbps but I don't get anywhere near that speed! My throughput is terrible!! it's worse than dialup (and that's no exaggeration)!

Using a D-Link DI-713P & D-Link DWL-650+ PCMCIA. WEP is currently disabled.

any suggestions?

thnx in advance

Similiar situation here!

Two computers using MS 802.11b adapters..

this computer is transferring a 900mb file, current speeds:

Uploading 300kB/sec. But, it should be going at speeds upwards of ... 1000kB/sec + ?

How far are the router and computer apart currently ? Ever try to put them closer together a little ?

What's the current speed now ?

if that's 802.11b, max you'll ever see is 5 megabits/s, = about 650kilobytes/s, that'll be with the card right next to the router, no encryption

also, try changing to channel 1, 8, or 11, do not have microwaves running, and unplug as many 2.4ghz devices as you can (phones)

B has so many throughput problems -- and it's slow. I switched to G and everything was good :)
