I think there is also a bartending course that is offered and after completion you get a certificate.

If you want to be a bartender you need to go to bartending school and take the bartending test. Its not just about knowing the drinks you have to know the glasses and other ish.
I think it costs less than $200 and it only takes 3-5days
Please note when you pass your test they put what percent you got on the certificate.

I did mine at the Ontario Bartending School of Canada a couple of years back.
Its on Broadview and Bloor its roughly $250 bucks and it took 5 weekends to do it.
On the last day you can pay $5buck and do all you can drink :)
You'll need 80% to pass the course on the test to get the certificate, but don't worry its not that hard.
You'll have tons of fun doing the course for sure, learning the drink and why they got the names etc...

All you need to serve liqour in Ontario is you have to be 18 and complete the "smart serve" course. Its about $40 and can be completed in a few hours online (8 modules I think) the adress is smartserve.org
this is what qualifys you to serve liqour, you learn some basic theoires with alcohol like the standard drink, and tips on detecting drunkiness to avoid over serving customers.
Thats all you need to be around liqour, a lot of small restuarants have bars where the drink orders are no so complicated and dont require bar tending school.
you better know somebody with a bar / restuarant because being a male and trying to be a bar tender is difficult

Some more than others, but thankfully, they're serving up a beverage that makes the brain think otherwise. :cheesygri
