hehe, thx... i bought the board this off season... i can't wait to try it out...
i use a helmet... cuz man... it hurts sooo much wiping out on the ontario hills, it's all ice....
there's a lot of deals going on right now on board equipment.... there's a snowboard/ski show happenning at cne from oct 13-16... as for what to get?... there's a lot of choices.... and mainly it comes down to how much you want to spend.

Its a sweet ride, cuz my previous was a beginner's board in the Burton Cruzer ... The Jeenyus is so much faster compare to the Cruzer, and so much more stable...its like night and day, on the turns also. Can't wait for the season to start.
How are your MFM? I always wanted to try the Baltimore toe.

Man, I can't wait until the season start!!! Do you guys wax your own board or take them out for waxing?
ya i wax my own board, it's really easy... the first few times takes longer because you need to figure out how to do the tips and also just learning how to scrape the wax off...
How are your MFM? I always wanted to try the Baltimore toe.
the MFMs are sweet, having the heel always lock in, is great... it could be me, but i find the turning response better with it... on the otherhand... the MFM Solo is, i find a bit on the heavy side...
My first board was a Lamar Endless, top of the line Lamar board, pretty good to learn on... but i wanted something better... so i went with Endeavor
i'm headed to Tremblant in the beginning of December.... i sooooo can't wait... then afterwards it's back to crummy ol' Craptario hills...

When I went a few years ago, the deals were really good.. but I went again this year and there's not much. Although some of the retailers were selling some of the 06 equipment cheaper than they would normally at their stores. That's about it, nothing really that spectacular.
My setup: Burton Custom 156, Ride LS, DC Phantoms
Really want some new bindings though.. how are the high end Rides? I was thinking of switching over to high end burtons, but was also considering the Flight.

what kinda riding do you do?

Really want some new bindings though.. how are the high end Rides? I was thinking of switching over to high end burtons, but was also considering the Flight.
I've got a pair of 06 Ride SPi's on the way so I'll let you know how those ride when I get 'em.
The Ride Tomcat, Team, SPi are great along with Rome 390's(soon to be renamed Rome Arsenals)
Depending on what kind of riding you do, you definitely want an upgrade from low-end Ride's...anything < SPi is trash compared to the high-end stuff.
With Burton, you should really look for P1's...a godly binding. But I prefer to stay away from them although the look of Burton Cartel's and P1's are sweet..I just can't imagine having a full plastic binding...They are pretty damn light for bindings though...and I heard they feel very very comfortable.
IMO, whatever you choose, it's a good choice....but I would stay away from Drake, Technine, SP, Flux and Forum...NOT BURTON MISSIONS...they blow.
My recommendations...Ride SPi, Team, Tomcat, Burton P1, Cartel, Rome 390.

Nice set up man! I can't imagine it being cheap! but damn! I can't believe you have those awesome bindings!
You'd be very surprised.
Board: 07 - Burton Baron ES ($525US incl Shipping - no duties)
Boots: 07 - Burton Ion ($310US incl Shipping - no duties)
Bindings: 06 Team Flow ($310US incl Shipping + $80 CND Duties)
All of this stuff was brand new with tags off of eBay. I spent some good coin here, but when you compare it to the retail price or Canadian store price, it was a STEAL!

Thanks, I can't wait to use em now. Looks like the 14 day forecast is slowly changing from snow into rain though :-(
One problem I've run into, I thought the seller told me he had the base plate connection to work with Burton boards... It doesn't... I've been hitting up a few stores and looking online for the part, but can't find it. It seems like it will be easy to find a plastic one, but the Team Flow's have a metal (magnesium) base plate.
Anyone have any suggestions? I've e-mailed flow, I guess if anyone will have it they will.

you probably need to goto a Flow authorized shop....
i know some companies don't make the burton 3-hole pattern just because how tight burton is by being different, making ppl buy their board/bindings.

I was in Burlington yesterday and went to Surfers Paradise… They have a pretty big lineup of Flow products... No luck there though. I'm surprised I can't even find something like this on eBay. I guess I'll wait and see what flow replies with.

Just recently put this together. Wanted a Ride board, but it was sold-out so had to settle for a Burton. It's a little too good for my current skill level, but the idea was to have plenty of room to progress.
Going to Whistler for the first time this year, anyone have any tips on things (e.g. bars, restaurants, etc.) to check-out in the Villiage?

Lucky guy! I can't wait to jump on my board... it's just a matter of having the right weather for it. I can't believe Vancouver got a bunch of snow this weekend and we have 17+ temperatures here in the GTA. I hope mother nature wakes up and realizes that it's winter in Toronto and give us some damn snow.

I know Boardsports (www.boardsports.ca) is also an authorized dealer of Flow bindings. I also think Hogtown (http://www.hogtownextreme.com) has a few high end Flow products as well. I really dunno anywhere else that might be able to help

Custom mold it? I thought the EVA mold was heat activated by wearing it for a while... I'm guessing i'm missing a step somewhere in between?

They bake/heat up the inside liner of your boot then make ya stand in it for 15 minutes. It reduces the break in time of the boot by about half and usually gives a better fit in the long run.

thoughts on these...i purchased the Flow FL55 bindings for my son for $130. Is this a decent price? Should I keep these or try to score the Flow Flite 1 off Ebay instead? We purchased all used gear for him to try it out 2 years ago and now have to start replacing as he is getting bigger. It was a good cheap way to outfit him to see if he would enjoy the sport. Turned out to be a snowboard junkie! If I hear when is it going to snow one more time....
Anyway, thoughts on the bindings?

The Flow bindings you bought your son are heavy! I'm guessing that you bought them @ Sportmart huh? They actually had them on sale a last month for $99... anyways, it's a waste for me to talk about the past. I think you're better off calling Boardzone.ca (http://www.boardzone.com/snow/index.cfm) (905) 738-8644, they might have some of last year's Flow bindings and it might be around the $100 - $120 range.
I know Sportchek has a promotion where when you buy a pair of snowboard boots you can get bindings @ 20% off....

If you want more info you can go to Flow's website and download the old Catalogs in PDF format found here (http://www.flow.com/en/downloads/catalogs.html).
Actually I don't see the FL-55's anywhere so I'm assuming that they're out before2004. If your son doesn't mind the weight I think he'll be fine with the FL-55's

:arrowu: sorry for my ignorance...does a "heavy" binding affect performance & how? At what point is a binding considered heavy? He is 11, is the FL55 going to be a problem? Any personal, affordable recommendations? He likes the release back. Thanks for the info, i'll give them a call. What do you think about trying to get the Flite type from Ebay?
thanks!

They carry a decent selection of Flow bindings at Sport Swap. And their pricing isn't too bad either, maybe give them a call? They have a deal where if you buy a board (new), you can bring it back within 2 yrs for 50% of the original purchase price in store credit. Not bad if you have a growing kid. They also carry a decent selection of used stuff, and recently had a huge anniversary sale so stuff might still be on sale. Don't know if the 50%-back applies to bindings as well though, may be worth a quick phone call.
If you do go instore, try to get Patrick or Brian, they were very patient, knowledgeable, and super-friendly when I was there helping a friend get her first snowboard setup.

 Wayne Brady on a snowboard! Well they stand out huh? anyway, when I said "heavy" is that older Flow bindings generally weigh more then their counterpart strap bindings. It just means that you're son is gonna get really strong legs, or his legs are gonna feel tired early that's all... but I don't think a pound or two is gonna affect him THAT much... man if he has FL55's he must have some big feet!!!

no, they sold us large.
Downloaded the Flow binding chart and came up with these 3. What's the best for a kid boarding locally & ocassionally at Horseshoe, Glen Eden etc, not quite doing the boxes but getting there very soon. I want something he won't outgrow quickly.
AMP9
AMP5
MK4
What's the major difference other than price? This stuff is confusing! :)

Mainly...how fancy does it have to be? The FL's, MK's and the Flite's are their low end product... these are just the intro gear, bare basics.... Not the most sturdy, and not likely to be the most comfortable. If this was a car, I'd rate it as a Kia Sorrento.
When you move into the AMP styles, the base plates are different. The highbacks have a bit of cushioning. Customizability according to moving screws around for a tighter fit, a more comfortable fit. Until this year, the AMP series were their mid to high end bindings... I'd you can stick your son with the AMP5 for now, this will take him to the terrian park and he'll learn to land with these bindings pretty well. the AMP9 bindings of this season have 2 ratches which are on the top two straps of the tongue, which means it's easier to customize. If this was a car, it would be like a Honda Civic....
this year they've introduced NXT baseplates, which are their essientially their high end bindings. Which have more customized settings, and a lighter binding. All the NXT models this year has 4 ratches, which makes it soo nice to have. I'm getting really stoked because I'm getting these tonite! Anyways, I'm getting off track... I would rate these are pretty much the Lexus ES 350.
They also have their HIGHEST model... the Team... which is over $500 but it's their lighest binding to date... it comes with two tonges, one for free ride and one for freestyle, and they BOTH have mini ratches.... this is the Porche 911, or Mazerrati of Flow bindings.
Anyways, I hope this helps...
