brown if you're older

black if you're young (under 28)

but I personally wouldn't wear black leather even if it was free.

Dark brown. It's classier. Black is way overplayed and should be left for the motorcyclists.

Heh! It's too funny that this thread is currently right beside the China's Dog and Cat Fur Trade (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205733) thread. Here people are casually discussing their favourite colour of animal skin, over there they're throwing a conniption over animal skins. Go figure...

We're shallow. Dogs and cats are cute. Cows aren't.

how you gona base this on color alone? I can find terrible looking jackets in both colors, why don't you just find a style you like first.

Different cultures, different acceptance levels.

People here don't usually eat or wear domesticated animals. That's why people get upset about the dog and cat fur thing. Cows, chickens, pigs, etc are just mindless animals for slaughter in the minds of people here. Which is kind of true I guess.

You got to admit that it's a little weird to take the fur of domesticated animals. Especially such small animals.

EDIT: I agree with the previous poster. Leather jackets are won and lost on the fit and look. It could be black or brown but if it looks bad the colour won't matter. I'd go for black though because brown is sort of...bleh

Well...many, many years ago I really wanted a black leather jacket. My wife got me a brown one.

Flash forward to these days.. the jacket still exists...it has been beat up and abused for 10 or so years. The way it has worn and aged and what not has turned it into a great looking jacket. People comment on the "great jacket" whenever I wear it out.

I don't think a black leather jacket would ever look good all beat up and faded and worn. So... if you are just going to wear it for a year or two, go black; if you're going to keep it forever, go with the brown.

Depends a lot on your hair colour, complexion and what you usually wear.

Both are stylish, and will always be stylish. The fit, and the style of the jacket are the most important though - you can go classic, conservative 3-button blazer, or "rebel" motorcycle style.

Whatever you do though, don't go for the bomber style with the elastic waistband like below:

I personally don't care for leather jackets, but whatever floats your boat.

How about you hey a reversible black & half brown leather jacket.
This way you can't lose, or you could get it dyed straight down the middle.
I don't know if you can still get brown leather dye or paint.

A leather jacket is not a leather jacket, unless it's black IMHO, unless you are getting suede leather.

black jackets are more aggressive imo. tan leather is more chil, relaxing, a night out. black looks like a color that has a goal, an objective.

anyways, both have their advantages. depends on what you wearing underneath, 1 or hte other may look better.

Style/Cut>Colour, but Im leaning more towards a dark brown over black, but then it depends on the style, colour and the leather.

I checked out a Danier Outlet in Hamilton over the weekend. Got a good amount of exposure of what's out there. There's a dark brown leather that I really like, the only problem is the fit. The medium looks better than the large, but I find it tight around the shoulder/chest area. but then if I go to the large, it fits much better in the shoulders but then leaves a bit too much room around the midsection. I find I have the same problem with suits as well.

I'd say Danier is middle of the road. Not high fashion stuff, but not budget Wally World products either. Some of their leathers are quite nice, some of their cheaper products are stiff and poor fitting.

Make sure the jacket fits you. As for buttons vs zipper...depends on the style. I haven't seen many motorcycle style jackets with buttons. I also haven't seen many blazer style jackets with zippers.

It all depends on what you want - motorcycle rebel, or conservative blazer for casual Fridays, as well as everything else in between - for dinner dates, clubbing, just hanging out, etc. And most importantly, if it doesn't fit perfectly, don't buy it! Something better will always come along... a feeling I know all too well.

I tend to be an impulse shopper too. I was however able to pry myself out of the store.
