RULES:

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Individuals are invited to create a Wish List that lists how they would spend $1000 pre-tax at NCIX.com.
2. The list must be created in a new thread in the forum entitled "RFD 5th Anniversary: Create & Win $1000 NCIX Wish List!"

3. The Wish List must contain name of the products, the current price of the products, and the total pre-tax and pre-shipping cost of the items on their wish list.
4. The total price of the items on the user's Wish List must not exceed $1000 Canadian at the time of posting.
5. If an item is on sale, the regular price will be used to calculate the wish list total. DO NOT USE SALE PRICES.
6. If an item has an applicable rebate, it MAY NOT be subtracted from the Wish List total. All Wish List item prices must be before Mail-in Rebates.

7. The contest will begin at 12:01AM EST on November 7th, 2005 and ends at 11:59PM EST on December 2nd, 2005.
8. Individuals may create only one wish list. Those found to have created multiple lists under a different user name will be disqualified.
9. A purchase is not necessary to enter the contest.
10. You may not include gift cards as a part of your wish list.

DRAWING & NOTIFICATION
1. On December 3rd, 2005 one user's Wish List will be randomly selected. This user will then win the items on their Wish List, to be provided by NCIX.com.
2. The winner will be contacted by the e-mail address used to register their RedFlagDeals.com forum account. If the eligible entrant does not respond to the email within 7 days, he/she will be deemed to be no longer eligible to win the prize, and another entrant will be randomly selected from qualifying entries and the process of contacting a new selected entrant will be repeated.
3. In the event that an item on the winner's list has increased in price since its creation and the price increase has pushed their total past the $1000 threshold or that an item is out of stock, the user will be required to pick a different item that does not make the total pre-tax cost of their list exceed $1000.
4. In order to win, the selected entrant must first correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question.
5. After having been selected as the winner, the winner must provide their shipping address to receive their prize.

just curious, but when i won a dell contest that said that, they allowed someone over the age of majority (parent/gaurdian) to sign off for me...can we do that in this one or do i have to set-up an account for my father on here (creating much more hassle for the forums in the long run as there will be another user that is just sitting there doing nothing)

Why is Quebec always excluded from theses contests?

Why is Quebec always excluded from theses contests?

It's because of contest provincial laws. Quebec has its seperate own set of rules and regulations concerning contests, which is why either you will see contests only for residents of Quebec or contests which exclude residents of Quebec.

Are we allowed to pickup instead of shipping if we win?

I say we quebecers should boycott every company who does exclude them from draws... Provincial law excuse is BS, they have lawyers dont they?

That's not true, the La Senza contests that are up are usually open to residents in Montreal, the ones where you enter a draw every few weeks. Yet this one isn't. Plus, from what I remember, the contests given by redflags last year, the futureshop wishlist was open to Quebec residents no?

The X-Box contest is also open to us, and everyone else. So that's not the way it works... There are some that exclude and also some that are nation wide.

Yes, but they have to comply with all of Quebec regulations
http://pr9.net/ent/entertainment/1819june.html

PR9.NET June 18, 2005 - Montreal, Canada - Indeed, it has to do with charity and contest laws in the province of Quebec. When planning national contests, companies are confronted with a unique set of rules and regulations in order to include Quebec. The Regie des Loteries et Courses du Quebec requires long preparation times and fees for approval. As a result a great number of national contests promoted by national brands exclude the province of Quebec. To shed some light on the issue, we have contacted the government agency responsible for slot machines, horse races, lotteries, sweepstakes and contests in Quebec. The following is a list of required steps in order to accomplish the impossible, get a sweepstakes approved in this unique Canadian province. The rules of a publicity contest must be accessible to the public and must include as a minimum:

·The conditions for entering the contest
·The places where the public must deposit or send the contest entry forms
·The deadline for entering the contest
·A description of the method of awarding the prizes
·The place, date and time the prizewinner will be named
·The media used to inform the winners of the prizes won
·The place, date and deadline for claiming prizes, or where applicable, whether the prizes will be delivered to the winner
·The information about how a jury will select the winners
·The nature of the skill-testing requirement that a winner has to satisfy in order to claim his prize
·A person for whom a publicity contest is carried on shall furnish security to the board where:
1)He has a head office or place of business in Quebec declared in accordance with the laws of Quebec
2)He has not been convicted of an offence against the Act or these Rules in that year precede the date of the launching of the publicity contest
3)That the value of a prize offered to Quebec residents is more than $ 100

It is recommended for companies wishing to offer contests and sweepstakes in Quebec to contact the Regie des Loteries et Courses du Quebec by visiting their website at www.racj.gouv.qc.ca

Meanwhile, until Quebec loosens its rules and regulations, a good site to enter contests valid and legal in Quebec is Quebec Concours located at: www.quebecconcours.com
There, you will find an extensive list of games, contests, sweepstakes, lotteries and surveys that pay participants. The site is a free resource for all Quebecois residents.

Correct. Most of the companies that do not have a place of business in Quebec do not want to abide by this. This law is actually there to protect Quebecers against illegitimate companies that may decide not to award the final prize to the Quebec winner. The security will guarantee this.

However, for most of the legitimate contests out there (RDF, NCIX, and many more), this should not be a problem.

Yes, there is paperwork... Agreed
Yes, there is MUCH more participation and appreciation from Quebecers... Obviously not undertood...

... I must say though, it's when contests like this come out that all the one-post-wonders come out of the woodworks.

I sincerely hope someone is policing those low-post-counters and zapping all those duplicators. I'd hate to lose because a regular member has four "newbie" accounts just for contests.

I'm glad to see that right in the rules'n'regs. :)

Heya, I'm one of those 'one-post'ers, although after this it'll be 2.
Don't hate me!
At least I found your website on my own... :-0

Anyone else think that it's a heavenly good omen that this contest began precisely on my birthday? Huh? :D

Just thought I'd drop a note saying that the rules on http://www.redflagdeals.com/deals/main.php/5thanniversary/sponsorrules/ currently say shipping is to be included in the price while this thread says it doesn't.

Techinically, it says write down how much the shipping will cost at the end. It does not say include it in the the $1000. :|

Question: What if the price of the itmes you listed has gone up since you made the list originally, for example I put the Athalon X2 3800+ on and it has since gone up slightly in price. Would that disqualify you if you end up going over $1000 because of it?

i think it would be quite simple to make sure your under by a fair margin instead, for example, im only going to list the things i acctually want! and i have not 1000 to spend atm. im happy with whatever! I should order some ide cables or something.

edit- if you read the rules dude, why is your list on this thread?

From the rules:

3. In the event that an item on the winner's list has increased in price since its creation and the price increase has pushed their total past the $1000 threshold or that an item is out of stock, the user will be required to pick a different item that does not make the total pre-tax cost of their list exceed $1000.

I'd just like to say on behalf of the 1-2 post people that i've been useing redflag deals for a long time and i know how to use a forum, and hey, i even made my own topic, with links, descriptions, prices and a total. Not all of us are stupid enough to not notice the giant post that says RULES. Anyways, just thought i'd add my 2 cents.

P.S. heres mine My WishList (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=221664)
i would have joined up sooner if it wasnt for the 20 other forums i post on, this was jsut a good excuse.

just incase anyone was still in doubt

3. The Wish List must contain name of the products, the current price of the products, and the total pre-tax and pre-shipping cost of the items on their wish list.

that line means, before taxes and shipping, which means you shouldnt include either in your final price or even in your post(unless you want to)

Are we allowed to wish for the things the site may not have yet....like the Xbox 360 and some of its accessories? If someone (hopefully me :D) wins this contest and wished for that would we be allowed to get it? I will gladly wait till NCIX actually recieves the xbox 360. Also, the rules say to post your wishlist with preshipping and pretaxes, meaning before taxes and shipping expenses, but I still see people including the shipping costs in their total. Did I miss something or are they just doing it for the heck of it?

thanks

oh ... one more thing ... are we allowed to do more than one posting with different nicks? i just noticed someone who has pretty much the same stuff that he / she wanted in 2 different threads.

i mean if it's not allowed then at least try to make it not so obvious and post in one after the other. ;)

No, that’s would be cheating. but im sure there are several people who are doing this. look at this thread (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=224490) and this thread (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=224492) , I picked up on these because it is so obvious and there must be so many others who covered up their cheating ways and no one noticed (especially with all the newbies who signed up for this contest). :( RFD should have tried to avoid this by asking for user addresses or something.

usernames are almost the same with the same join date and the same items. they can be brothers or something but i doubt it. whats worse is that they probably have an original rfd account and these are some fake ones, so there might be 3 threads just for 1 person.

Well, it's almost closing time. I've spent far too much time picking out all the components I'd love to get from NCIX! One day it's a whopper CPU/mobo combo... another day, a video card I could *never* afford on my own.... another day, a great laptop.... whew!

I settled for a great improvement to my existing setup - all the goodies to write music, print photos and quiet things down. All in all, I've got fingers and toes crossed!

One RFD member is gonna' be super-duper lucky! I love RFD anytime, but during contests like these I just love this place!! :D NCIX is the only online store I've ever shopped from, and that's the way it's gonna' stay.

I honestly don't think that should matter. One of the great things about contests is that it draws enormous amount of new users to the community. That and some people don't sign up and just lurk so they could of been here for quite some time but just chose never to sign up.
