I was in Costco and saw the above tv with stand. I did not take the model # down in the store, but I called later and someone gave me the model # over the phone.

This seems like a pretty decent deal for a 56", but I can not find any details about this TV anywhere. So did she give me the wrong model # or is this some type of costco special?

Any ideas?

That sounds like the wrong model number. 56"? I know Costco is selling Sonys, Pannys, Samsungs, Hitachis, and AKAIs. AFAIK, the former 4 doesn't have any 56" DLP models, so it should be AKAI.

It's a Samsung... I will try to remember to jot down the model number when I go in today.

Yes it was definately Samsung. I know there are no 56" models listed on the Canadian site for Samsung, but there are 5 listed on the US website.

I'm going back today, I just have to know!

A quick search turned up nothing for that model number. I'd be very interested to know what the model # is. Any idea if its a 720P/1080P display?

I didn't think Samsung did 1080p. I thought only the SOny SXRD was capable of that so far...

Its got to be one of the ones listed on the US site.I think all the electronics are the US versions. I bought a DVD player as well as a couple TV's at costco over the years and they have only been listed on the US sites..

The model # is correct HLR5662. It has this # on the sticker on the side of the box and the sticker on the side of the TV. It has both DVI & HDMI. The guy at costco stated the reason I probably couldn't find it is because it is for wholesale.

Based on features and the weight I belive it is comparable to the HLR5667W you can view on the us Samsung site. Yes weight because if you check out the ones on the US the 56" are stated as having different weights in the specifications and mine (Yes, I bought it) matchs up at 80.91 lbs

Personally, I can't wait to see what the winter coupon book has in ways of tv sales. Getting close to my sweet spot in affordability!

Any heads up GYR8?

Funny enough, I have heard *nothing* about any upcoming books. Last night, I was asked what coupons started tomorrow and I myself asked around and no one knew... Usually I get people bringing in their books that they got mailed to them, but it hasn't happened either.
So for the time being, it's a bit of a mystery. I personally thought the coupons from the last 4 days should have gone on for longer, but who knows. I will report back if I find anything else out, although by THAT time, you will already know, since it *is* Monday!
