I joined this site in April of last year. I'm not fanatical about it, don't put in words every hour, in fact I often go days w/o even putting in any words. I've received aprrox 3-4 DVDs, 2-3 CDs and 1 or 2 books, 6 to 9 items in just over a year. And they always take only about 2 or 3 weeks to arrive. So for spending a few minues a few days a week, I'd say I've gotten my money's worth.... so to speak...lol.

I couldn't agree more! But its just something I do while I'm on the computer for other reasons (like work!) - I just set a reminder then input the words but often times I only do it every 3-4 hours! Good suggestion to donate though!

Do you have a strong virus scanner? I went to Lovingyou.com this morning to see if the poem of the day was on site with a new word (is it newsletter only?) and one of my scanners went nuts and said there was a trojan. I just tried again, went to the poems section and again, my scanner went nuts, this time for a virus.

WOW ... I'm completely stunned.. that has got to be the best ever browser extension app out there!!! I feel like a sucker all these years without it...

No more ads -- not just pop-ups, which is standard on all browsers, but any ad whatsoever! Including those annoying ones that just take over your page with animations.

It's also perfect for this thread since when you "claim a word" you have that annoying 'pull-down' add that completely blocks the screen.

i never had issues; maybe is not lost because they took a really long time, i almost forgot i ordered them; certain items needs to be ordered directly from a site (not amazon.com stuff) and gets special ordered by the 3rd party, ship to P&P, and then get shipped out from them to Canada...

Buttery Christmas Trees on a Stick

1/2 butter, softened
1/2 C. butter flavored shortening
3/4 C. sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla or your favorite extract - I used almond
2 1/4 C flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Popsicle sticks

Preheat oven to 350°F.

In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder and salt, and then set aside.

Using an electric mixer, cream together butter and shortening. Add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add vanilla and egg; beat until well combined.

Gradually add flour mixture to the butter mixture until all is combined.

Load mixture into a cookie press fitted with a round cut-out or fill a plastic baggie with the cookie dough and snip a hole in one corner of the bag. Pipe the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet, forming a Christmas tree: 1 round cookie on top, 2 cookie balls on the 2nd line, 3 cookie balls on 3rd line and end with 4 cookie balls on the 4 line. Make sure the cookies touch but do not overlap. Do not crowd on the cookie sheet. Starting from the bottom, stick a Popsicle stick into the cookie dough way up into the cookie.

Bake for 7 to 8 minutes or until the cookies are lightly browned around edges. When the cookies have finished baking, allow them to cool on the cookie tray for 10 minutes so that they set up. Move to cooking racks to completely cool before icing.

Once cooled, ice with powdered sugar icing, if desired, using the recipe below. Decorate with candy sprinkles, colored sugar, etc.

Powdered Sugar Icing

2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla or whichever
extract you chose for your cookies
2 tablespoons milk
food coloring

Mix first 3 ingredients together until smooth and creamy. Divide icing into bowls if using more than one color. Tint icing with food coloring. Decorate cookies.

4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups butter or margarine, softened
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup white chips
1 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and baking soda. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat eggs and vanilla extract into butter mixture. Gradually stir in flour mixture. Stir in milk chocolate chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chips, and nuts. Drop by level 1/4-cupfuls, about 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until light golden brown. Allow cookies to cool for 2 minutes on baking sheets, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

Go-Go Peanut Butter Shake

1 sm. banana, peeled
1/4 cup smooth peanut butter
1/2 pt. vanilla ice cream
1 cup milk

Put banana in blender and blend until smooth. Add peanut butter and blend. Add ice cream and blend. Add milk and blend until smooth.

Granola
Printable version

3/4 c. brown sugar (or 3/4 c. white sugar and 2T. molasses)
2/3 c. oil
2/3c honey

Heat to dissolve the sugar.

5 c. Old fashioned oatmeal
1/2 c. quick oats
1/2c. dry milk powder
3/4t cinnamon
pinch of salt

Mix well and then mix the sugar liquid into the dry mixture. Mix thoroughly. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 375 degrees F for 10-15 min. Let sit for 5 minutes to cool and then put in an airtight container.

I would think that the Sheknows people (Jasmine?) are not changing the year to 2010. When they put the word in their database with the 09 date, the word is immediately expired. I believe the same thing happened to the newsletter word BIGHEART. That to me seems the easiest explanation for the new words having the wrong year.

I think it's safe to say that it's just a typo, since the description says the contest end date is January 7, 2010 -- so either it's a typo or a major coincidence! Plus all these codes not working.

What is wrong with these people? P&P just tweeted this:

What is the point of promoting this when nothing works? Why don't they ever read their survey responses, emails, responses to tweets, facebook wall??? There's plenty of people telling them their hunt words aren't working and yet they still don't seem to know.

I'm at a bit of a loss for the Word Hunt. There are prizes for the top three point getters and the leader has 6450. (Contest page (http://pointsandprizes.sheknows.com/stories.php?req=listentries&id=41)) Each site has 360 points available and I have found 15 sets of words. That's only 5400 points of which I know one 30 point word is not working. Also, I could not get one 20 point and two 100 points words to appear. So I have entered 5150 worth of words and I am unable to find any others. So where are the other 3-4 sets/sites that account for the 1000 point difference?

As an aside, I'm disappointed that I'm not on the first page for points. We all should be if we've entered all of the words posted here.

Edit: I just counted the 200 point words we've found and there are 19. That means that we've entered over 6500 points worth of words. My mistake.
