Hey I like watching movies with hi tech devices and hacking etc and yes there is Sneakers, Hackers, Swordfish, Takedown, Wargames etc.. edit: antitrust, the net.. but I feel there isnt enough of these types of movies around.. maybe it is the fact there were hollywood types. I seen a bunch of docs too but wanted to ask if anyone has seen any indie films based on hacking etc that was kinda good. Is there any worth watching?

thx

I think you pretty much named all the hacker movies that have been made. There aren't that many out there, and for good reason. They are really boring to watch!

I'm going to have to reccomend a movie called Anti-Trust. It's an excellent movie with a great cast. Has a great story and plot. It had me interested the whole time. This movie reminds me off microsoft and bill gates, you would understand if you watched it! Trust me go out and rent this!

Antitrust is sorta...and I posted this for a new movie that everyone ignored:

Otherwise, there really isn't anything...I mean there are films with hacking in it but as the main focus...

If you really want to stretch the definition of hacker movie, the newest Italian Job has some hacking in it.

Sneakers is still the standard, IMO.

Tim Robbins' parody of Bill Gates was pretty funny, but I won't argue. :)

It's a stretch, but Swordfish could fit in the hacker type movie.

Oops. It was mentioned in the original post...

Hackers 2 is pretty good. Same namesake as Hackers but compeletely different (more realistic, not as goofy). It's based on the real life story of the apprehension of Kevin Mitnick. Stars Russell Wong.

A STV sequel to The Net called The Net 2.0 is coming out soon...

I'm 90% sure it's got something to do with computers and hacking and CDs...

But did Hackers 2 have Angelina Jolie like Hackers did?

mmmmm Angelina Jolie. :cheesygri

The Matrix isn't quite hacking-oriented enough to qualify for this discussion, I think. Fantastic movie, though.

Read about that, was morbidly curious about it...any good?

So many unnecessary sequels, so little time.

Try watching the independently produced series "The Scene" (sometimes also called Teh Scene). Its not so much hacker-type, but shows more the working and goings-on in a typical warez release group (aka members of the "scene")

See their website at: www.WelcomeToTheScene.com (http://www.welcometothescene.com/)

Sometimes it drags a little, but i was hooked enough to watch the 14 episodes at a stretch. Episode 15 is just out..excuse me!!

Hackers 2 = Takedown

It was marketed as "Hackers 2: Operation Takedown" for a while, but it looks like they are just using Takedown now.

It's not a great movie, but probably one of the best "hacking" movies out there. Better than Hackers or Antitrust and what not. Definately worth a rental or download if you're into this genre.
