Escape Velocity in its post, One Red Paper Clip, profiles Kyle. Kyle wants a house. But all Kyle has is a red paper clip. But Kyle's smart. So he trades his paper clip to a vegetarian who had a fun fish pen. And he kept swapping stuff until 4 transactions later he had 1000W power-generator.
Kyle still wants a house.
But now Kyle has a website with 10s of thousands of visitors every day. And he's got sponsors; And he's going on talk shows; and the NY Times is interviewing him.
All this from:
One Red Paper Clip. And a willingness to be creative.

Interesting, but I still don't get it. People seem to be doing it just for the publicity..but maybe he thought of that when he started with the paper clip.

And now he's getting loads of publicity (talk shows, radio interviews, etc etc), and he's doing well! Global news even did a coverage on that last week

Excellent work!! Kipling is actually a pretty nice farming town, my mom grew up in Stoughton, which is about 20 minutes to the southwest of Kipling.
That is so cool all the popularity the town is getting out of this. Red Paperclip Day, with Corben there too to pick someone for the new role. Awesome!

Looks like they are throwing a huge party at the house to celebrate for the long weekend.
Looks like a possibility Alice Cooper might show up too...
Even Dick Assman has been invited! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Assman
Might be interesting to see if they could get Letterman there too since he was the one who discovered Dick...

So he got a midsized house in a small town in Sask?
Anyone got a ballpark figure on the value of the house?
I'm sure it was fun and great and all, but add up the costs and hours, and he probably could have just bought the place :|

Eh, all the money he must have gotten from Adsense revenue and all that must be amazing.
