Not only does she pay some handsome royalties to use Abba's Music, but in an article I read about the matter, she actually paid a visit to Sweden to personally _beg_ Benny and Bjorn for permission since in tha past they haven't been willing to do it for others.
But back to the deal, 25% off white ticket can be pretty decent.
There are some box sets I'll get if Santa didn't get the hint. :)

I noticed with HMV they jacked up a lot of their prices on their box sets this last week before christmas.
On the weekend of the 17/18th I saw Die Hard Trilogy for $30, Harry Potter 3 pack for $36, Godfather for $34, Superman for $50.
On monday the prices were $40, $40, $40, $60.
I checked multiple hmv's and they all had the jacked up prices.

Most of the Buffy seasons were $39.99 at HMV today, but if they were previously part of the 2/$80 deal then it's basically the same price.
I also saw season 2 and 3 of "24" for $44.99.
Any other TV DVD deals at HMV?

yup their 2 for 30, 3 for 30 titles they tend to have good ones and they are the new editions.
e.g. hmv has special editions of scarface and pulp fiction 2 for $30 but FS sells em $19 each.

Then why waste your time (and ours) by coming into this thread about HMV? What a hyprocrite.
yup i know for a fact that hmv upped their prices the week leading up to christmas on box sets.
Just think of it as a different sale/promo price :). If they jacked up their regular price and then put it on sale again just for the purpose of making it look like a better deal, that would be shady. Mind you, their white sticker regular prices are pretty high to begin with ... lol.

HMV's white label pricing is a crock!
I was thinking about getting seasans 3 and 4 of the Flintstones. HMV's white label price is $59.99. Take 25% off and you get $44.99
When I was in futureshop on Boxing day, the [B]regular[B] price of said boxsets were $45.99.
Whoop de do! Could have saved a whole buck!
(I still haven't bought them. No rush)
The general rule of Boxing day sales is that you need to know what you're after, and how much it's worth. Sure, there are some good deals at HMV but just because they took 25% off their already pre-inflated prices does not a deal make.

I do agree with what alot of others have said though. They DID raise their prices beforehand on many things there. Then again, alot of their tv series are ridiculously priced anyway. There's the rare thing where their boxing day deals were quite good on though.

All I did was call them and they said no since they said HMV had a sale going on and it doesn't apply to sales. That is a cop out if you ask me. I went out and bought the CD at HMV and plan on returning the CD at Future Shop. Good point. I guess I am a bit weary on it as HMV's flyer does state "While quantities last" - the thing is that there are TONS of the CDs in store. Bleh. I would rather return it at FS just so they lose the sale. Or maybe I will call them again tomorrow and bicker with them.
