Just picked up an Asus A8N-SLI deluxe, 7800GT, x2 3800+. What are some good pics for PSU and a case? i'm not into overclocking but i do want something that will give me trouble free computing. thank you for your help.

I'd pick a high end enermax or ocz power supply...case really depends what your taste is.

yeah i dont really care about the case so much as picking the right PSU. i considered the sonata2...is the psu in that decent?

I'd say an Antec P180 case for sure. As for PSUs, Antec's Truepower 2 line looks pretty good, but I don't really know power supplies all that well.

Sonata II case with fans mounted in the exaust vents ....

As for the ps .... 450 watt smartsolutions ps might not be enought ... the OCZ modstream 450 onsale @ ncix right nw would be a good one depending on if ur goign to go dual videocard or not .. if not then that would be perfect then.

P180, or even the P150. Very sexy.

I have the Sonata. Wasn't crazy about the swinging door but the reviews were dead on about this being a quiet and reliable case.

Today I'd go for the Antec P150 instead. No door. Quiet. Antec quality. It's one sexy beast. :cheesygri

FYI, I have a friend who had the sonata2 he removed the air duct, and his temps actually dropped by a couple degrees - might be something to check out. Other than that he loves it.

P150 for sure.

but you have to wait about a month till a fixed version is out.

What's this about a fixed version?

I would recommend against the PSU included with the Antec P150. It is known to have incompatibility issues with the Asus A8N-SLI board. A TruePower II is fine. You would want at least the TruePower II 480 if you're going to contemplate SLI ever.

well i decided to get a 535W enermax (it appears on nvidias certified sli list). it seems to have good reviews and is reasonably priced. i love the seasonic but its just out of my price range.

i cant decide on a case now lol. I definately do not want something designed by a hyper-active 10yr old. I was thinking about the following:

Coolermaster Centurion 5
Coolermaster Cavalier 3
Thermaltake Soprano

They're all priced at around $70-$90. Any other recommendations? Thank you all.

i would go with P180 + Phantom500
get a couple of quiet 120mm fans and undervolt them, you'll have a silent beast

The love-in for antec psu's aside, you picked a good psu...enermax is definitely one of the best makes. As far as case, what are you looking for exactly? something to mod, a pre-mod, something for watercooling later, extra space?

the problem has been fixed, but its going to take some time untill the fixed ones are in stock again. NCIX and Frontier Computers are both out of stck but when they get it in stock it will be the fixed version

I have the A8N-SLI Premium board with the AMD 64 3000+ Chip. I have the Antec SLK3000B case with the Antec TruePower 2.0 430 watt PS. The system runs very quietly and the CPU is at 35 degrees. I have the Zalman 7000bALCu fan.

thank you! good to know i picked ok.

for the case i want something that will be easy to setup, provide decent cooling, and is affordable. i don't want to mod it, i dont want to rice it, i dont want to watercool it :)

the P180 suggestions are noted but that's a $150+tax case which is a little *woah* (or i can go for the ltd black p180 for $200!).

Thank you all for your suggestions.

The SLK300B was on my list..i'll have to re-look at it. Thanks for the HSF suggestion (that was going to be my next question lol). What do you guys think of the of the Zalman CNPS9500? Any other HSFs i should look at for the x2 (non-oc)?
