Warm or hot depends how you think.

I was looking for some open box stuff on wireless desktop to replace the stupid Benq keyboard combo I got from boxing day (needless to say its disadvantages, it has been discussed throughout this board) I knew there is a rebate going on for the LX 700 combo for this week in futureshop and bestbuy and I saw a LX 700 last week at east end Ottawa future shop last week, so I figure, I just went there to try my luck. I went today and I saw that open box and I asked the guy how much it is selling it for. He said it is 25% off the regular price (109.99-25%) and he then said "well I sell this to you for 80 bucks" I knew there is a rebate going on so I asked him do I still qualify for the rebate, and he said sure... so eventually it ends up like this:

109.99-approx. 25% = 80 + tax = 92 - 30 MIR = 62.

It may not be the best deal but I had been looking for some wireless combo with range and I heard logitech has a longer range than others.

Again, YMMV as not every future shop sell open box for 25% off and not every future shop let you got 25% off plus the MIR. In ottawa I only remember the one at Kanata has a table of stuff sell at 30% off or less, so you may be able to pull some deal there. I already tried merivale, no luck there, although they have one LX 700 there (open box).

One other thing, when I wrote my rebate just now, I saw the rebate is for a long period of time from Sep. 1st 2005 to Feb 2nd 2006, so it may mean extra cash for people buy it from future shop before (It was not advertised before this week) extra $$$$ for those lucky ones.

*Updated - Thanks for the reminder from Arsevader, I went to the future shop again to do price adjustment. Although they didn't give me 20 dollars back but I manage to deal with the store manager for a 10 dollars back + tax.

So the final price = $62 - $11.54 ($10.04 plus tax) = $50.46

If you got to see these open boxes again, direct them to the website and you maybe able to get it for another 10 dollars off ~ $39

The old days are over ....
The price is very good for one of the best wireless combos.
I personally have been using it for about a year or so.

New it's being sold for $59 right now so I don't think you got such a great deal. But at least the warranty is the same.

I was at BB today returning the crappy Benq keyboard that i got on boxing day. Took a look at the LX700 there and the open box item tag read: Regular $109.99 now $98.99.

Since it is open box, are the BB stores free to set their own prices? Cause on the bestbuy.ca website the same keyboard new is $59.99.

Stupid. PM opportunity? I didn't ask becasue i didn't want to pay 50 some bux for a keyboard and mouse.

i don't believe it. staples selling it for $95. That means to get it for $10, the competitor had to be selling it for less than $18. Hard to believe they are at 1/3 the price of FS and BB who are selling it for $60.

Definately warm. Logitech keyboards really are pretty nice, definately some of the best wireless options around.

I got mine free when Logitech did their anniversary giveaway (c'mon, who else sat at work hitting refresh again and again? :) ) and it's still going strong today.

Worth a look if you want to go wireless.

I hate my benq! its such a POS and I paid 70 bucks last year.

Problem with the mouse is its laggy at points, I notice when I plug in my cell phones to my usb port (a hub) it just lags, but if I move hte phone away from the center of the table it goes back.

Does the logitech have interference problems?

OMG you paid $70 bucks for a Benq set? I paid $20 for mine during Boxing Day two years ago and I still think that's a rip-off. Their mice are craptastic.

only thing i hated bout my old corded logitec keyboard was the keys, after a few months they start getting noisy. Does this set have that problem?

At work we got a microsoft wireless and the mouse has such a solid feel, keyboard is not bad.

The LX is cheap junk. Logitech sent it to me to replace my MX, don't know what's cheaper, the combo or Logitech.
