Do i need to install the dig camera cd on my computer for me to download pictures?
If so, I have a profile for my wife and I, do i need to load it in each profile???
I heard xp has its own downloading program for dig cameras so all I have to do is hook the wire up to pc and camera and away I go....
Can anyone agre/disagree on this

I haven't had to install software for a camera. A driver, maybe. Not the actual software like Easyshare though. It will act like a USB flash drive once detected.

You plug it in, wait about ten seconds, and it will pop up as a new drive. From there you just click and drag (or copy/paste) your photos onto your hard drive. You don't need to install the software, but if you don't have a photo editing program on your computer you may want it.

No, you don't need to install it but it won't hurt and you'll get additional functionality that you won't get by using the built-in support.
Also, for future reference, most apps (and there are very few exceptions) install "system-wide". By this, I mean apps are accessible from any user account on Windows without having to install it into each account.

as said. I was keenly impressed that by default Windows had loaded almost every device possible into the installation (A LOT OF EXTRA MEMORY UNNECESSARILY TAKEN UP)...but of course this makes this LUSER friendly ;)
For some reason however (cellphone drivers usually aren't...too recent?..but so are digicams  so why the distinction?). Anyway Enjoy!

I found the canon zoombrowser software that came with my digi cam better to use than what xp offered. I like it so much I even use it to download pics from my olympus camera.

Well, the cd that came with the camera was loaded under my husbands setting. when i logged in under mine, it wouldn't recoginize. So now i have to download my pictures via my husbands setting...seems kinda weird..I am goinjg to try to load the cd under my setting in xp home and see if that works.

I went one step further and got a card reader. Now I don't have to search for the usb cable for the camera anymore :)

Much less than 0.1% worth of space on most hard drives out today for hours of time saved and that's a problem for you?
