If you don't have any prev experience it's going to be very hard. You might as well start out with fast food since you're only 15. Work there for 2-3 months and then use that as experience on your resume for your next job.

Not many places actually hire those who are 15 years of age except Quick Service locations. The age a business is able to hire is dependent upon its agreement with Employment Canada. I believe that most quick service locations hire those who are 15 years of age and older. In addition, it is not a bad idea to start at a "fast food" location - you will get some experience you can use in another job/career.

not fast food but kitchens of some restaurants may hire you to work on their kitchen staff. the standard of starting out as a dishwasher and moving up applies. it may get stressful though with late nights.
I know someone who used to do part time work at the local community centre - just supervising the games room but it sure paid for all the extras and was a decent job for 15.

alternatives to working fast food for young workers are...
-telemarketing
-teleresearch
-movie theatre floor staff (theatre clean up)
-supermarkets and groceries (shelf stocking)
-Shoppers drug mart can get a pretty "clean" job... Stocking shelves and moving inventory bins around.

Also, put your name in the federal student work experience program database. Just search for fswep in google.
That's the database federal departments use for getting students. If you manage to get a job you'll be making 9$ an hour. It might be hard though, if you don't have any federal offices in your region.

I vote for the grocery stores....I worked there when I was in high school...Fairly easy work, and lots of cute girls in the deli/working cash. Old ugly ones too, but in the dark, nobody's old or ugly :)

nope.. but they love taking in application and leave them around for a few months before they throw em out.
There are probably tons of shoppers drug marts withing a 30 minute distnace to your house (30 minutes seems like a reasonable travel time). So apply to all of them every 3 months =)
Alot of people get bored of stocking shelves @ minimum wage, and eventually quit.
But the hottest girls youll see are @ shopper drug mart. You know.. when they are checking out hair dye and make up. thats when you OH! giggity

15-year olds generally have two standbys:
-manual labor
-dirty/greasy manual labor
Personally I recommend that he does some time in fast-food. It will certainly impart an appreciation for education, hygeine, and courtesy. It did for me, atleast.
/sits around surfing redflag at work getting paid 3x minimum wage ;)

PLUS: most grocery stores are unionized, thus good pay with possibly some benefits.

Grocery store as well, I know a few 15 year olds who work where I do(No Frills  ) and it's pretty fun. One guy who was timid and silent is now a pretty outgoing guy.
Well, at work anyways ;)
The union here kinda blows though, takes a chunk out of pay(and pay is every week, so a chunk every week, almost 8%-12% of total pay is tax/union/etc.), but it saved one guy at work from getting fired 3 times lol.

Mmm, it really depends on moreso what you have to offer. I got my job last year because I was kind of pushing my resume at the manager and I had skills to offer for photo restoration and what not.
In person resumes and picking jobs that cater to your skills are better, of course it'll depend...

Try a gas station!
Here's what you'll get out of it:
1) Cash experience
2) Customer service skills
3) Car knowledge
4) Responsibility
Most gas stations are franchised, so you'll be working with about 10 other people or so. You'll be either working by yourself (which other employers love) or as part of a 2 or more person small team (yay, teamwork). You're also not 'a face in the crowd' as you'll see your boss all the time.
Good luck!

If you know someone who works @ the post office, you could get a job there just probrably filing papers and get paid a lot.

At 15 I worked at a computer shop doing ***** work for the first 3 months then they took me to sales. Finally they noticed my ability to hack win 95 apart and left me as the head Tech for a couple years before the owner died and the business went under.
Really, if you were like me and played on a computer since age 5, try looking at the local computer shops.
Whatever skills you think you might have, play up on those and use'm to find work.
Good luck

I tried FSWEP before, no luck here.
Since you're 15 you might want to try tutoring at your school. At my high school, if you have good marks you might be automatically selected to be a private tutor for other students. I remember it felt kind of funny tutoring other students in my same grade and classes .. but yeah I think it looks better on a resume than fast food employment.

I applied to Canada Post at 17-18 ... no luck here. I think you'll only get that job if your family/relatives work there (i know many postal outlets around here are just convenience stores with postal services inside).

I saw a now hiring sign at my local 7-Eleven a few weeks ago. That 7-Eleven location has a postal outlet too, does that mean 7-Eleven is hiring attendent or it is seperate from the postal outlet.
