seriously what kind of crap is this?
its like a 3rd-rate MTV, the video selection is bad, the VJ's are terribly annoying, the shows are weak.. i mean seriously, get rid of this crap already.
It's really annoying when people come from small towns like 2-5 hours away from Toronto and act like the Muchmusic building is the biggest attraction. Gimme a break already.

Yeah Muchmusic is pretty bad. Their target audience seems to be 14 year olds so I wouldn't expect too much. Much More Music is alright though. They need to bring The Wedge over to MMM and expand it more.
(Shouldn't this be in the entertainment forum?)

I doubt they are actual MuchMusic exclusives but Le Fromage is hilarious and Video on Trial is hilarious. Other than that is blows though.
When MuchLoud first came out I ordered it and it was good, but now it's God awful. If I didn't have the complete Rogers package I would tell them to shove it up thier A**

MTV should just do a MTV-Canada, and replace Much Music altogether

agreed
im down for signing a petition or protesting their suckage if we can get enough people
very poor representation on all genres of music, even pop. VJs blow totally
better off watching a countdown with YTV
Solution? PJ PHIL as the new VJ!

They were good way back when they had people like Rachel Perry, Rick the Temp, Bill Walkdajflasjdfi, Amanda Walsh and Bradford Howe (funniest VJ ever). I don't like these new VJ's, especially that tall guy who is apparantly a fashion expert when it seems as if he follows whatever trend's popular in the US. Or maybe it's because I'm older and that I can't relate to these new VJ's anymore compared to when I was a kid/teen.

I definitely agree. Muchmusic has got to be the worst Canadian station ever. Their low-budget second rate MTV wannabe shows are embarrassments to television. It's MM that's preventing us from getting MTV here in Canada. They cry to the CRTC everytime MTV submits an application.

Much tries to be cool but in the grand scheme of things...most Canadians would rather watch MTV, MTV 2 or VH1 if given the choice. Our girl Rachel Perry is tearing up VH1 =)

Muchmusic has been total crap for a while now.
I stopped watching when Rachel Perry & Bill Welychka left.
The new VJ's they have are godawful.
I found it funny that Much chose Bradford over Quddus (who was far more talented) in that one Much VJ Search, and MTV ended up hiring Quddus right after to be a fulltime MTV VJ making big bucks and hosting TRL lol.
Looking back, he must be the happiest guy in the world that he didn't get stuck at Much.

yeah it is an MTV knockoff, but it's canadian, and we always need a canadian alternative.
muchmusic is great when you're a style-conscious teen ages 11-18.
then other more important things (should) take over your life.

It's pretty hard to base a channel on the crap they call pop/top 40 now. Hopefully one day kids will demand better. Until then I'm going to continue listening to Ziggy, Metallica, AC/DC and Johnny Cash. The classics.

That's already been done. We used to have MTV Canada and MTV 2 until last year when CHUM bought out Craig Media. Those channels are now MuchPunch and Razer. Both of those channels are so damn lame. MuchPunch was made to mimic MTV2 with music videos all the time, but they have all that extra crap on the screen instead of just the video. Razer is trying to mimic MTV, but for a younger audience.

Holy Sh*t ... there is a show called Muchmusic???? ;)
Just playing ...
The last incarnation of VJ's is the WORST GROUP EVER!!!!
Rick was the last good thing for Much ... say what you want, dude could interview anyone.
The current MOD duo is GARBAGE ... LM is twisted Eye Candy.
Hanna is great, but no match to George Strobahwjlrjkwhekhwlerws.
RAP CITY??? GOOD GOD IT SUCKS.
BUT MUCH IS FAR BETTER THAN MTV ...

This is the direction that "pop" television is going, unfortunately you can see a similar path unfolding over on MuchMoreMusic.

You should be embarassed. He's gotta be the most annoying VJ MM ever churned out. I have not heard a single smart thing out of that dude's mouth. I literally stop watching when he came on. I'm actually glad George left for the CBC, now I can watch him on a real station and not be bothered by rest of Much's craptown VJs.

I used to work for much music. I still work in the building though.
The main reason why muchmusic blows is simple Upper Management.
If you have ever worked for idiots that make no sense then you get the picture.
It could be a great place to work but the current regime is awful. Their thinking is "it's cheaper to buy programing than to produce it"
Yet they produced the VJ search at a minimum of 20K an episode. The ratings are awful so the real excutives arent too impressed.
Much Music was a great place to work back when there was moer live elements. We used to go live from 11:30-6 mon-fri plus weekends.
When MTV comes to Canada Much is in serious trouble considering they wont be able to air the shows anymore. What makes it ironic is when MTV started they mimiced much's style. Now much is trying to be like them and when MTV reaapears on CTV they will be pushing the whole LIVE element again.
It also doesnt help that the current VJ's have no talent. All the old VJ's were actually knowledgable.
The reason George left Much Music is because they were holding him back. At the CBC he can live up to his potential and do what he wants to do.

I think it is pretty bad how it is aimed at the 13-14 year old girl demographic and has some pretty poor taste shows.. "Who would you do", etc. The skankifying of North American youth continues unabated..

Has MTV changed from being a moron station to one that actually plays music?
MuchMoreRetro should just re-run the origin 80s rotations.
PS. It's unfortunate that so many Canadians are American wannabes ;).

I actually have an account on the MuchMusic messageboards. Been there for 2+ years now.
And let me tell you, none of the regulars there watch Much programming (except the Wedge, and the occasional Video on Trial). Most of us regulars are there cuz we have a diverse taste in music. Like in the Wedge forum we have this 30+ page thread for the latest indie concert dates in T.O.
We've basically hijacked the boards so that the "Much 911" forum has basically become the Sex forum.

All I watch on MuchMusic now is Fromage, any special hosted by Ed the Sock, and Video on Trial. The rest of the network is complete crap.... Leah is hot though(Not near as hot as Amanda or Rachel were though)

until she opens her mouth, and then the ***** hits the fan.
the worst vj on the network has to be that red head chick, with the stupid hair who has the worst interviewing skills ever. the only vj i can tolerate is sarah taylor, because she is not insincere like leah and matt are

It's funny, all this talk about how bad the VJs are. I guess it represents the state of the music industry these days. When MM started, they may not have had the coolest posing people working there but at least they knew what was going on and what they were talking about. I wonder if people back then would still think Erika Ehm sucked when compared to the new generation.

I used to know quite a few people who worked at MM/City TV. Basically, it's being run by a whole bunch of morons now. Once that woman (can't remember her name) who was head of programmin left for Sony Canada, it's been all down hill. George was in running for the top job, but they felt he was too hardcore, meaning they needed someone who is more pop-oriented. It's very political so all the good people are gone.
Rachel was hot. I wrote her an email once askin her about her nipple rings, and she actually replied. :cheesygri
There was another blonde girl, I think she went down to the States too. Can't remember her name either but she was hot too.
Leah, she is just so annoyin. I see her da other day at a food court, whut a dork. She's not that hot, if you take away her skanky clothes. She's just a big time flirt who's got zero personality.

Sarah Taylor has improved since her debut, though not as fast as Amanda Walsh or Rachel Perry.
Just watched Matte bludgeon a Metric interview, there's no words left to describe how bad he is. I don't understand the logic at Much, throwing him out to do interviews when the guests themselves have turned on him.

George Stromboloupolous was one of the best VJ's.. He's a really smart guy and can hold his own in front of the camera.. Much took a big loss when he left

I gotta say though, George is awesome on CBC's The Hour. As the ads say, he really does bring a "smart, provocative" spin to the news.

Haven't watched more than 2-3 minutes of the VJ search, but I'm a bit puzzled; why didn't they try to hire the runner-ups from the previous one? There was one or two that had potential, and were worlds ahead of Matte or Leah.
That Metric interview was the worst one I've seen from him yet. When's the last time a VJ actively stole audience questions (and got called out for it), had the guests repeatedly insult him and then try to angle for an apology? All in 10 minutes or less? Yikes.
Sarah did a better job on the first part, though the "You're so hilarious" mantra was really weird. Still, you can see the improvement month by month.
Much's before-the-MOD-performance interview with Metric (http://www.muchmusic.com/insidemuch/stuff/coupla_questions_metric/), which leaves me asking: why didn't they use these questions instead (not counting the overlaps) when they went live?
