I m thinking to get this tomorrow. The 7.2Mp Camera has the best battery life compare to the other 7.2Mp Camera in the market. My friend is using it and it is even better than her cellphone battery life. All the functions and everything is almost the best. But I would consider this camera is kinda old, it was released on June 2005 according to dpreview.com. So I am thinking if there has something better or any update model of this DC?

Thanks in advance.

Here's a good review of this camera:

http://www.kenrockwell.com/casio/exz750.htm

If it works well, you won't have to worry about newer cameras because they won't get much better that this one.mWhat I like about this one is the manual operation as well as the 3:2 (3072:2048) format. If I print to a lab, there isn't any cropping.

I also have the Nikon D70s, however, I needed another camera that was more portable so I bought this one last week. Actually, I bought two, one from FS and one from Henrys. They were on sale for $399.99 each. Each was a different colour (Silver and Grey). I'll return the one I don't like.

Strangely enough, I check Henrys.com today and the camera wasn't listed on their site anymore.

If you're interested, I can sell you the one I don't want for what I paid ($460 incl. taxes). If you can find it cheaper, please let me know, so I can PM! Cheers!

Thanks WLJ.

It looks cool.

New battery life, flash feature (you pointed out above) and increased sensitivity (ISO 1600).

@ 8MP, it gives HUGE images at 3264×2448 & 3.18MB!

Maybe I'll use the 750 for a month and return it and get the 850. Hmm...

hi, batcave.

I just asked my friend to buy me a z850 from Hong Kong. They are selling it for $3500HKD ~ $515CAD. But What I am thinking is Canon SD550 better or the Z850. If Canon has a better battery life, I would choose Canon for sure....

How is your Nikon Picture Quality compare to Z750?

Hey WLJ, I noticed that Henry's has a listing for the z850 now. No stock but a price of $499.99. With the visa coupon on RFD, you can have it for $575 with a $25 gift card thrown in.

I'm not sure what the battery life of either the Casio or the Canon is. I wouldn't be too concerned about that. I had the Nikon 5200 before and the battery lasted longer than I required. In some cases I ran out of memory. To conserve the battery power, just turn off the sounds and set the camera to turn off after a minute or so of inactivity. I think the newer the camera, the better the battery life. I took over 700 photos with my D70s on a single charge; there was lots of power to spare also!

I've had the z850 for about a week now and I've taken some good (and bad) photos with it. I think overall, the quality is better than the Nikon Coolpix 5200 but not as good as my D70s which is understandable. I didn't like the flash nor the quality of the lens on the 5200. Plus the detail of the photographs are better with the z750 compared to the 5200. However, the D70s is best for detail.

Here's some sample with my cameras:

With the Nikon 5200 (in the valley of the Blackcomb glacier); I thought poor detail:
http://images9.fotki.com/v174/photos/4/43873/2087911/DSCN0983-vi.jpg

With the Nikon 5200 in NY State last summer; probably the best shot I took with this cam:
http://images14.fotki.com/v167/photos/4/43873/2513376/DSCN1241-vi.jpg

With the Z750, this is 7th Heaven on Blackcomb mountain (check out the wierdness at the top right of the photo; that's supposed to be forest at the bottom of the valley; probably glare caused it):
http://images16.fotki.com/v285/photos/4/43873/3286900/CIMG0016-vi.jpg

Z750 with flash (generally I only use a flash if I have to, this was 3am so I had no choice):
http://images16.fotki.com/v281/photos/4/43873/3286900/CIMG0013-vi.jpg

The next two are with my Nikon D70s. The detail and controls are much better in this camera, but it's not the most portable camera.
http://images14.fotki.com/v218/photos/4/43873/2433178/DSC_0805-vi.jpg

http://images16.fotki.com/v281/photos/4/43873/2818421/DSC_1370-vi.jpg

I like the look of the grey colour one so I'm going to keep that one. I don't think I need the z850; for me it doesn't provide much more features for the extra cost.

If you want to see more shots I've taken with the z750, you can check them out here: http://public.fotki.com/Batcave/travel/whistler_2006/

There's not many different ones. Mostly of me at Whistler.

Good luck with whatever camera you get!

In the end, I returned both cameras. I think they will only get cheaper in the coming months - especially after the z850 is released. Maybe I'll get the z850.

It was a bit of a hassle to return it to Henry's. They were complaining that I had the camera for more than 14 days. I ordered it on Feb 17th, they didn't ship it until the 22nd and it arrived on the 23rd (at which point I was already in Vancouver). I retuned it on March 7th. I brought all of the proof (Canada post tracking record of the package) with me before the manager would issue the refund. They also didn't know if I purchased it from eBay or henrys.com. That's pretty unprofessional and petty for a retailer of their size.

I think I'll take my business elsewhere like Futureshop where it was very simple to return something.

Yes, I think they make great watches too!

It probably depends on what you want a camera to do. For me, I like this camera because it can record photos in a 3:2 format to match my dSLR and not crop if I want to print. There was also a handy button on the back to access easy features to adjust: image size, white balance, ISO and focus mode.

There is also another button to control single, multiple or timed photos.

The play and record buttons (in addition to a power button) were also nice. If you pressed the play button, only the LCD turns on and the lens doesn't pop out. Also, if you were shooting pics and then pressed play, the lens would retract after about 10 seconds of viewing. Handy to keep the lens clean (and possibly conserve energy?).

I'm probably going to buy this again when the price goes down.

What digicams do you like?

Any good deals on Z750 or Z850 guys

Edit: I must have been writing my note while you were posting your's!

http://www.techtoysforless.com has the 750 for US$270 and the 850 for US$400. Shipping is about US$30. After exchange (lest say 1.17) canada post handling and canadian taxes you can get the 750 for C$410 and the 850 for C$580.

In Canada, you can get the 750 at FS for $450. The 850 isn't available yet, but Henry's has a listing for $500. I know they still have stock of the 750 at some of their stores, like Queen St, where I returned a 750 earlier this week.

I think the 850 will be available in Canada sometime in March at which point the price of the 750 will go down below $400.

Yeah I am thinking even of getting the Z750 shipped to the States to a friend where I can then get it without customs. then it would be much much cheaper about 150 difference

Did you consider Canon's S80? It's an 8 megapizel camera in a compact package. You can pick one up for $600 in Chinatown.

I bought this case in Henry's Mississauga location. It was the last one that I bought. It cost me $29 + tax and I give this leather case for 100 out of 100!!!

And I bought this (http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=009222&cid=DC.457) to protect my Z850 screen.

Here's another great idea for a case. Originally designed for the iPod, but will likely fit other similar sized devices.

batcave, I was amazed about the Z850 Battery Life. I charged it all night when I first got it, the date that I made my post (march 9th?). After that, I never put it on the cadle to charge it.

Today is March 18th and the battery tells me that I still have 1/3 battery left!!! I took 544 pic(80%) & video(20%)!!! wow!!!

I would recommend this camera to everyone!!!

That's great about the battery life WLJ! I may have to check it out. btw, what size SD card did you use? The 3MP images would probably require a 2GB card.

Have you tried out the new 'best shot' flash feature? Does it take three separate photos - or what does it do?

Did you get the manual for it yet? I'd like to check it out if you have it. If not, you might try downloading the z750 manual. It will probably work pretty much the same.

PM me with your email. The file size is 6407KB.

I just bought the Casio EX-Z60 from FS last week. It was a great value (read: cheaper), the battery life could be longer, (it uses the NP-20 same as the s600) but it's got most of the features of the 850 (except notably MPEG4 and 8MP; it's got MPEG and 6MP).

The best features for me are:

+ the left/right buttons are programmable to select certain features; I've got mine set to white balance;
+ a 'soft flash' feature, when you're up close;
+ it can take three flash shots in one second, like the 850; and
+ I really like also how I can program the play and record buttons as on/off buttons. I find the on/off button on top too small to press easily.

I got one in Black from FS for $270 (reg is $300). The body is made out of plastic (I think), but it looks/feels like metal and feels very solid, not cheap.

I'm fine with 6 MP and I'm not too concerned with the battery life. Plus, it seem to charge quickly. I think I'll be keeping this one! :cheesygri

Dpreview just did their review of the Z-850 and criticized Casio for adding the extra MP over the 750 because the need for increased noise-reduction reduces the resolution in photos taken.

10.1 MP is just another step in the "my CCD is bigger than yours" pissing contest.
